Threads like these pop up every expansion, hell eve just had a content 1.1 patch a week ago.. and these are cropping up again...
In other words maybe its some some of you folks chillax a bit and have some patience or maybe stop being so damned spoiled.
There will come a time that CCP puts out an expansion and its not going to be the best expansion, it may look like version 0.7 we just had in our last content patch and you extremly impatient folk are going to hate ccp for every dime its worth over it.
CCP can get away with calling a 100% bug fix and polish patch an expansion they have done it in the past and will do it again most likely and just about every CSM has expressed that a bug fix expansion is a nessecary marketing evil. While new features gets new players in, fixing old ones retains current customers.
There will also come a time that CCP will put out an expansion, with 0% features you may like. For example they put out the PVE expansion, there are few that already expressed they don't want to see the co-op horde hunter mode. One day they're going to add full body avatars and what if that alone was an expansion. How about version 2.0 on the graphics engine? no new game play gets added but every bit of art assets gets tweaked up? As inconceivable as it is, there are people who hated the trinity expansion, and to some point I had to sympathize that their 10-12 year old laptops at the time of the expansion couldn't handle eve anymore when they gave those customers a full year they where going to get cut off and even further warned they should get a shader model 3. Oh btw Direct X 11 card is the future minimal requirement for eve in the future for those of you dual gaming.
Eve has had 4 or more of these kinds expansions now while it satisfies the bitter vets a bit usually the new hands complain about those types of expansions the most or even the oldest of vets who don't have anything new to play with.
Currently the last 3 expansions of eve online as awesome as they could be, where very short in terms of increasing the sandbox. all those expansions did was get rid of some of the old cat litter in the box and made it smelling fresh again. Not that many new tools... not that much new sand.
Apothryca, Tryannis, Dominion, Cold War where significant sandbox expansions. (don't you dare mention Incarna that was a scoop of sand, not a dump truck of usual expansions)
So enjoy version 0.7 Chromosome there will be other expansions and major 'content' patches like in the future.
For some of you, may be setting the bar of expectations way too high, CCP are humans after all, Dust 514 is an extremly small team with a netcode, database, and art bottlenecks (you certainly don't want to implement something that screws eve online over entirely, remember the day on the test servers when eve corps could give to dust 514 players?)
As for david reid/ccp pokethulu for not mentioning the ps4, its called not shooting your own foot off and slicing your own tongue off. As ps4 launch gets closer and after dust 514 hits 1.0 you can then expect to hear talks about ps4 among the devs and eventually marketing once something concrete is made. Who knows maybe fan fest? |

CCP always play thier hands close to thier chest so they can say "LOOK AT THIS" at fanfest and everyone goes "OMG WANT, take my money"
Its best not to assume anything about the PS4.
I for one am glad they aren't jumping on the new console bandwagon. It take about a year for a new console to mature after release (get good games) the intitial games at launch usually suck, look **** (ported from previous gens with some polish) and are very very buggy. |
