I think that day may never come. And now I think I know why.
Did some number crunching over the weekend on the effectiveness of Complex Shield Extenders VS Complex Damage Mods, and in every case, the Damage Mods come out on top by something like 0.02 seconds of time before death.
Even when each is stacked 4 up.
Nerf damage mods, and there will be no reason at all to equip anything but shield extenders... |

I'm going same route rift. I say we both equip damage mods and laugh at jumping heavies. Since we pretty much are far away from enemy fire I think it's the way to go. However we are weak to snipers and shield extenders can help us survive most 1 shots I think. |

yeah ill probably do all shield extenders. thanks for the info, disturb.
hey wyrm. good to see ya on the forums man.
i'll leave you with a tip since you're always good for the dks builds.
when you see a heavy in the open like that and he doesn't know what's up fire your laser into cover first for about 20 rounds. all you have to do from there is step out of cover with the thing aimed at his head and most of the time they die before they can escape. if they're far enough away they usually don't have enough time to close the gap or return fire either... you risk the chance of overheating doing this tho so be careful. don't need damage mods doing this on a regular laser either, since it scales up over time.
just don't let him know what ure doing or he'll run away. you want to peg him and have it be to late.
it's kind of why i think damage mods on a viziam is redundant.. 14 rounds left down from 20 till overheat and a base damage of 20 up from 15..
shame the damned things cpu is close to 100... makes stacking damage mods that much harder too. |

Ah somebody unlocked this fine piece of work. Opposed to the general opinion this weapon is OP i allmost never see it on the battlefield. Put 3 damage mods on a A series suit and on the low slot some armor plates. Find yourself a nice advantage point and shot people from medium-long range. Wait 2 days and see every AR fool scream on the forum for a nerf for this weapon. |

I feel like stacking penalties should apply to everything, including shield extenders. Maybe then there would actually be a reason to use rechargers. |

What benefit do you get by using the Viziam over the ELM-7? Just curious as I thought they were almost the same thing except the Viziam could fire 4 more shots before over heating. |

Viziam has better base damage and heat management than the other lower tier variants. |

i tried rolling with 3 damage mods on my type b today..
yeah people died really fast, but when they noticed me someone threw a rock at my char on the tower overlook from down at c on the 3point map and my character went unconscious.
translation: a couple hellstorm guys (had similar or better sp then me) ar's falloff damage killed me before i could kill them. i was sitting at base suit hp and optimal range.
has anyone like.. calculated the best mix of damage mods and shield extenders to survive the higher tier assault rifles falloff damage (preferably 2-3 of them)? whats the magic number cus it sure as hell isn't 3. 1? none? |

Your math was good in heavy chat but when lasers are in the mix which sap shields like no other dmg mods are needed to sap armor just two though is efficient i ran my type 2 last build with it and wrecked shop. |

the players that've invested skills into ar's can hit you in your optimal tho. how are you going to provide overwatch for your team if you have to run and lick your wounds everytime someone sneezes at you?
i dunno.. rocking a standard suit with no buffer just sounds like an instakill for snipers if you're up high or you're someone hiding more than shooting. |

None at all?
Even if you're armour-tanked and running with Logi support and don't care about shields? Even if you're stealth-tanked and planning to mostly avoid taking damage in the first place? (making damage more important) Even if you've got good squad/teammates running CQC fittings to make sure enemies aren't aiming for you? Even if you're planning to focus on AV Laser use, and damage is more important because you're relying on hit-and-run tactics? |

What i wanna know is what is this difference between the base Laser Rifle and the ELM-7. I see a little less heat build up but is that really worth upgrading for? |

Stacking penalties apply to almost any module that effects some stat by using a percentage modifier. This is how it is in eve and how it will be in dust. Applying it to static bonus mods is pointless because in the long run the percentage mods are more effective.
And there is a reason to use rechargers + extenders. Even rechargers should be affected by the stacking penalty I believe. |

of course. it's a direct upgrade in almost every department that matters.
if you can fit it put it on until you get a viziam. it's damage scales up the longer you overheat the thing as well, so that translates to damage in the long run and means longer bursts of fire. |

from what i understand the viz does about 500% dmg at 3/4 heat....... tested the elm at 3/4 did alot..... tested viz at 3/4 and all you have to do is scroll over someone and they die...... |
