This is an idea i have for the EMP.
I think they should make a separate skill for EMP in EVE, for example, if you have a skill for EMP, you could have different types of EMPs.
But what I mainly would want to see is a EMP skill that makes the EMP More effective per level, up to a maximum of level V (5).
And then when you launch the EMP you need to select a AoE (Area of effect) this AoE radius also increases per level invested in "EMP Operation" The EMP Knocks out all vehicles and installations as well as stoping any hackings in the AoE, players are affected in such way that they have a decreased movement speed and any weapons or equipment that uses electronics are disabled.
The EMP affects friends and foes alike, in other words, friendly fire. This makes it a strong tactical decision.
Here follows some of the stats I think could work:
EMP Active time Level 1: 10 seconds Level 2: 12.5 seconds Level 3: 15 seconds Level 4: 17.5 seconds Level 5: 30 seconds
AoE Level 1: Small radius (Size of a control point) Level 2: 25% bigger Level 3: 10% bigger than previous level Level 4: 7% bigger than previous level Level 5: 2.5% bigger than previous level
Decreases movement speed by: Level 1: 12% Level 2: 15% Level 3: 19% Level 4: 24% Level 5: 30%
The reason I chose these as the stats is that 30 seconds is a fair amount of time in Dust if you feel this is not true then feel free to change the values and add other parameters, please do have a good argument for changing.
I do not know if the affect of the EMP should instant and that only those who were inside of the AoE at the time of impact are affected or if it should be applied to anyone that enters during the time of effect.
Also in addition to the friendly fire, I think at level 5 "EMP Operations" an some levels in nano and electronics would give you the ability to send down an EMP that senses the nanites of the friendly troops dropsuits, which results in that they are left unharmed.
This is my idea of how the EMP should work for dust and could also be implemented to EVE, but with ships in mind.

The friendly fire was more intended for dust only, that for example, the EMP used for orbital strike is a different ammo and cannon than used for EMP used on spaceships. |
