is it just me or is our Assault Rifle Operation which is supposed to reduce Kick and Dispersion level by 5% per level actually bugged?
I've only been using the GEK as my testing Rifle, So Since AR Operation Level 3, as I've progressed to level 5, the actually recoil of my GEK hasn't seen any improvements. In fact it actually feels like the kick has increased and the bullets spread is even wider instead of tighter and I'm having to control my weapons recoil a lot more than I'm used to.
So can anyone give their thoughts, maybe I'm just crazy and getting bad. |

Hard to say, but if u look at the skill i believe it says something like "5% bonus to recoil & dispersion per level". However that is neutral terms so cant identify if is a increase or decrease, as all other operation skills say reduce/decrease to u know what it is doing |

Mine kicks as much as no rifle skill (militia rifle no operation skill on an alt) so i believe it is bugged and also i think there was a post about it in bugs/tech issues forum |

I hope CCP looks into this, I would've been better off if I had just kept it at level 3 and save myself the SP in the process. |

But then you won't get AR proficiency which gives +3% AR damage and you won't be able to use officer ARs. I leveled them up and I say its totally worth the SP. |

It isn't CCP's style to permanently penalize a player's ability in any way for increasing a skill, regardless of what the skill unlocks or if it is a stepping stone to another skill. If the assault rifle skill actually is increasing the recoil/dispersion (or doing nothing at all), it certainly isn't doing so intentionally.
The wording or attributes on skill bonuses, equipment, boosters, etc. are sometimes at least a little bit confusing or inconsistent. When they say something provides a bonus to an attribute, what they generally mean is the best possible interpretation of a "bonus".
For example, lets say there was a skill that provides a vaguely worded "5% bonus per level to the cooldown of vehicle modules". You could interpret that to mean that it increased the cooldown time meaning you had to wait longer to reactivate modules, or it could mean that it reduced the cooldown so that you could reactivate modules quicker.
Obviously the second interpretation is more desirable for the player (unless they equipped a Spontaneous Combustion System II and tend to accidentally activate it a lot instead of the shield booster next to it) , so that's what the devs actually mean by the "bonus."
...then again, in EVE there have been a couple of modules that actually list their penalties as a "bonus" in their attributes page |

I knew it wasn't just me, my GEK jumps like a freakin horse now, At level 3, when I unlocked the GEK I was able to shoot at least 30 Bullets before having to compensate for kick and recoil. Now I'm at level and my bullets go this way and that way and I have to burst fire it every 7 shots.

Or you could just learn to shoot properly -- use bursts of bullets and not go ADS during hip fire.
But no, lets "fix" the easiest weapon in the game.

oh dear god only 7 shots of accuracy that's like some ones shield and Armour WHAT EVER SHALL WE DO WE WILL NEVER GET KILLS LIKE THIS |

even if its NOT working as intended the majority of players in the game STILL use the gun type so i don't see why people complain its obviously very popular the last thing it needs now is a recoil buff |

I believe you get more kick and recoil as you add damage gains to it. The 5% reduction is to compensate, but doesn't seems compensate much. By the time you get to AR proficiency, and start adding 3% damage per level, the kick is very high.
I currently using the GEK as a burst riffle, other hows the recoil is impossible to control. But if you get use to controlling the kick, the AR is a pretty good weapon. |

Personally I don't really think the skill is bugged. I noticed the subtle changes in how many bullets were and weren't hitting each time I up'd the level. I will say that the shooting in this game is far different than other FPS's takes some time getting used to and everytime I get some gaming on in another FPS and come back to Dust, it takes me a few games to get back in the groove. |
