I remember CCP placed a WPM cap in-game where you can only garner X amount of WPs for a given period which will then be followed by NO WPs during a Y interval.
I am curious as to the value of both X and Y and more importantly...
Why do we need a cap on WP in the first place? I understand that there might be some sort of abuse where people would farm WPs but at what cost?
This just means people are actually reviving people up, repping armor and using all sorts of equipment to garner those WPs. Why penalize people who are actually helping out in the field? To my mind, i would rather have some logi following me around repping me or reviving my expensive loadout than have a useless sniper in the red line not killing anything.
I dont see why there should be a soft cap on WPM considering this game already has a hard cap and a soft cap. By allowing either no soft cap on WPM or shortening the dead interval between earning support based WPs the worse that could happen is that merc gains so much WP that they cap earlier than usual.
To summarize: Negate the soft cap on WPM or at the very least minimize the void interval to maybe 10-20 seconds in between WP earning (from support skills such as revive, resupply and repair). Do not penalize the team player whos actual |

Edit:
To break down the amount of WP logi's generate.
Around 150'ish WP can be obtained repairing a fattie Usually 25-50 on an assult 0 to 25 for a scout 35 points healing someone while they take damage and defeat an enemy 15 points for someone using a weapons cache 25 points for everyone either in squad, or in the case out of squad in the no squad group using a Droplink.
That adds up to a huge bonus to our overall score. So a soft cap on repairing WP is not so bad.
Even assuming it only affects repping which to me is worse considering that you are penalizing Logistics suit only and the few Assaults who actually use repair tools.
From my viewpoint the only main reason why there is a soft cap is to not allow orbital farming. That I understand but they can implement a better interval. 10 second interval would be better or lower the WP gain to slow the pace of WP earning for support skills.
Repair tool users are penalized for doing their jobs repping people who have damaged armor seems counter-intuitive. Re-working the system would make people look at support skills more than going up to the redline to snipe. |

This issue is going unnoticed because people with repair tools are a rare breed. It's almost always exclusively used by logistics suit users. Making the issue affecting a marginalized player-group.
My suggestion is to lower WP earned from 25 to 10/5 per tick but remove the interval where you cannot earn WP from repping altogether.
Don't punish the team players CCP!! We are a dying breed. |

The cap is there for a reason, a while back a certain group of people started abusing the easy points from repping and got upwards of 5k war points every game by being sat in the redline, repping cars.
Imagine having an orbital a minute, being dropped on your team...
I'm not saying that the point gain cap is the answer, but it is a solution.
I agree. There is an avenue for which it can be subjected to abuse to farm orbital strikes. However, punishing a specific set of gamers who are teamplayers does not seem to be the right solution.
I think it is high time that the repping tool cap be re-evaluated.
If the issue is abuse of orbital strike there are several proper solutions to it namely, 1. Increase the total WP for orbital strikes while taking out the void interval 2. decrease the WP gain for repping people while taking out the void interval 3. decrease the time it takes to earn WP via repping tool after reaching cap or 4. increase the WP earned cap via repping
This particular problem goes unheeded because, plainly put, not everyone wants to repair people. |
