I have a problem that I'm wondering if many other people are experiencing to do with the controls. Sometimes when aiming down the sights or scoping in using L1, it will randomly cancel, then aim back down the sight despite continuously holding L1. The same also happens when hacking an objective, not all the time but just enough for it to become seriously frustrating when a 90% hack resets even though you never let go of circle. It's starting to become a gamebreaking issue for me because I'm never sure when joining a match whether or not I'm going to get a 'spastic' control system. |

Controllers are randomly resetting. The Devs are aware of the problem and it is being looked at. Check the Updates for this Forum weekly (Thursday, last I checked) to see what is being worked. Also, check in Announcements regarding the Server shut down as hot fixes information is usually there. This is directly related to Hacking Quits Bug. It may or may not be related to yours.
Now to the meat of the problem:
Do Not have more than one DS3 plugged in to the PS3 while DUST is running. Not even to charge it.
Use the newest controller you have. If it is several years old beware that Sony made a really cheap manufacturing decision for the DS3 and possibly the one before it. There is an internal cable that does not have a connector. It is held in contact with a circuit board with two pins and holes in the cable. Mine tore. Bad news.
Also without a connector the contacts on the circuit board corrode and it will eventually fail requiring some fix.
Oddly enough my old DS3 worked fine on all my other PS3 game (small sample ~30) so You Mileage Will Vary.
I bought a new DS3 on sale in January. Solved most of my problems. Not the Sniper Scope is horrible but many of my interface problems are not as bad now.
One last thing, don't forget that the cable only charges the DS3. It communicates via Blue Tooth. If you have placed something close to your PS3 that can hinder Blue Tooth, well ... move it.
Good Luck. |

I only have 1 PS3 controller plugged in as well and I am having an issue with the controls as well. This mainly happens when I am trying to run (which is pressing the L3 button). I would say 8/10 times at some point; if not immediately, the menu for calling in a vehicle comes up. If it isn't that, it is the leaderboard or the field map. Again, I am not pressing anything on the d-pad at all because the run command isn't linked to any of those controls.
It leads to a lot of cheap deaths for me because instead of running away for cover when I get rushed (since I am either a medic or a sniper, I am not built for up close and personal fighting) I am a sitting duck instead that can't have any interface to address the issue at hand. By the time I get out of that menu and the game resumes, I am dead.
Now, this is the original PS3 controller for my system and I am willing to admit that it could be the controller wearing out. However, I do not have these same issues in any other game I have been playing over the years. |
