Really?!? Again? Every frikkin' time this issue seems to be fixed adjustments are made and it comes back. Every time I've noticed strafe speed back up to enjoyable levels, and bam, hit detection issues. This isn't just with scouts. The only suit I consistently do NOT get this issue on is heavies, suggesting it has something to do with hit box size, speed, or both. I'm no programmer, but the way this keeps coming back makes me doubt the credentials of those that do call themselves programmers.
I mean, seriously, you still haven't fixed this issue after six plus months? It doesn't matter how good your game is if a stationary target is randomly immune to about 40-50% of the rounds you put into it. And yes, I said stationary. I was shooting at an assault suit that was stationary - little blue shield flares, and after nearly a full clip he had taken only the slightest bit of damage. It's possible to watch as some bullets take off a little chunk of health, then observe two or three doing nothing, meanwhile my own shields, all 400 of them, disappeared like cheesecake at a fatty convention.
This isn't even consistent. Some people go down like they are wearing bullet magnets and some people hop around or stand still and seem, temporarily, semi-immune to damage. I need to get some sort of video recorder to record my sessions for the next time this happens.
Of course, if it keeps happening I'll clearly need to take a break from the game. The real problem with that is the model you've established CCP, PUNISHES people for taking a break from the game as you don't get active SP. My corp isn't large, only half a dozen of us, but every one of us will end up not wanting to play until after an issue like this is fixed. Then, after we end up behind the SP curve we'll never want to come back, having essentially been punished for not wanting to play a bug-ridden POS period of the game. If you are going to make a game that makes it essentially mandatory to play every week you had better get this bull sorted out before release.
I've been all about niceities and defending you guys up until now, but this crap is getting old. I'm a quasi fan boy, but that's quickly fading. I've convinced eight people to play this game so far, and six of them have bought mercenary packs, one of them has bought two, and I've bought three. This game will live or die on word of mouth and as this post clearly demonstrates, I've got a big mouth. This is tough love, not hate. Get your house in order CCP because I do NOT want to see this game fail. Right now it's like watching a kid with so much potential squander it by becoming a junkie. Yes, I just indirectly compared CCP to a child prodigy on drugs.

And yet your ranting has done nothing. Accomplished nothing. Changed nothing.
Good Job!
Hit detection problems are beyond your Skill level. Don't worry your pretty little Kitten head about it.
And for the OP, it is not fixed. There is nothing that says it is. Sometimes you aren't facing the target at the worst possible angle and others you are. Until CCP says it is fixed you should not expect it to be fixed. |

It made me feel better.
And there's always the side of me that hopes someone in CCP reads this, it resonates with that person, and spurs them into action, resulting in a better, more polished, hit-detection free game!
Getting dizzy from all the eye rolling I'm doing in this thread, but here's to hope.

I do recall one of their 'fixes' was to nerf strafe speed down to nothing for a couple of months. Hence my referring to the fact that it 'seems' to be fixed then it comes back. If you read the entire post it clearly indicates I do not believe they have ever fixed the issue, which is why I am so annoyed.

It would help us all if they would update the status of existing bugs versus only reporting on new ones. There is some information regarding what is fixed with a Server Hot Fix but the level of detail is ... limited at best.
The Hit Detection Bug is a tough nut to crack. We do not know the work flow for this project. It has been going on for some years now and, as far as I can tell, it has changed Game Engines to UnReal (an interesting choice) and that may have actually induced the problem.
Let me clarify:
Some department builds 3D-models, this varies from company to company.
Animation takes those 3D-models and build all the animation sequences required. Which is why adding Prone is such a problem as each different Suit now requires new animation to be created, tested and released into the wild while hoping that QA has found the corner cases where Going Prone (love the sound of that) will not Break the 3D-model and/or the map.
Add to that the efforts of the Art department(s) to handle the Textures required to cover all the possible transitions, clipping issues and see through possible with it.
Now at the base of all this is a Hit Box that has at least two pieces, one for the Head and at least one for everything else.
Somewhere in this process the Hit Box and Something in the Rest of the above has caused the Hit Box to not Always register a hit. This is further complicated by the TacNet display giving indication of an Enemy that is slightly behind an obstruction. Without TacNet we wouldn't be able to see the Target. Since we can we assume, incorrectly, that we can shoot it.
This helpful TacNet information actually frustrates many of us. Personally I believe that proper Scopes with enough Zoom could resolve the problem. Look at the Red and realize that you can See the TacNet information but are Unable to see the Red itself.
Of course, that is dreaming on my part. Mercs will continue to be QQ Kittens about missing the Kill even when they cannot shoot the driver out of a HAV.
No rolling here
