So lastnight, I had this grand vision of things to come from Dust. Particularly about a vehicle.
in my dream, It was more or less a dev's plaything, and was only in the beta as such. It was, for lack of better words, a Land Carrier. It had about 5-6 large treads per side, it was about the length of two and a half, maybe three full tanks, with a width of about one and a half to two tanks width abreast. the most intresting part was it was completely flat on top, able to carry people and allow them to shoot off the platform without the jittery motion you get when riding a tank/etc.
Now... the model in my dream was extremely OP and out of place. it was only a little slower than an LAV, and had 175k EHP with a large turret on it. After a talking to a dev in my dream (Yes this was a highly imaginative and odd dream) I came up with a way to balance it for FUTURE gameplay (there is no way to balance it with the maps/modes we have currently)
So basically, remove the large turret. Give it 4 LAV-style small turrets (where you can see the shooter), and give it a built-in mobile CRU. drop the speed to half that of a tanks base or less, but give it about 50k EHP (maybe more? one reason is to avoid being one-shot by an EVE orbital). My idea is to make it more or less a mobile base of operations for the larger maps. almost like an MCC, but maneuverable by a person. Also, it would have to be expensive. like... very expensive. After all, we are talking about basically a Capital HAV.
Now, the thing is, it is far too early in this game for this vehicle. it would be ahead of it's time. That said, when we begin to get much larger maps, the prospect of a mobile CRU which doubles as a defendable base... this might be the kind of thing that will change the tide of battle.
the only thing I'm a bit stumped about is how it would enter the battlefield, lol. but honestly, I'm just throwing this out there, As I have great hopes for this game to be vast. The thought of seeing capital vehicles that tower over all other vehicles in size, and would be "flagships" for larger corps, frankly excites my imagination.
Any other ideas for Capital class vehicles that would be worth billions? I bet I'm not the only one with lofty goals for DUST |

Couple of ideas on this. It would fit into the idea I had on another thread that when it comes time for district control, that the defenders would already have the points and could spawn there and the attackers would have the MCC.
How this would come into play. - Could only be spawned/ dropped from the MCC (due to its size) - Would be a mobile CRU/Supply - Only small turrets would be used for defense due to range. - Driver/Commander would have access to full map during driving as this would basically be a command center
The idea would be that you would use this to push up your line as you move to take the enemy objectives to keep your team from being redlined easily from the get go. It would also serve as a supply depot for troops and possibly tanks/ds's if they ever limit their ammo.
I dont think it would be as large as you suggest or it would be a quite easy target for installations given its size and speed. Maybe |

Since eventually the MCC is supposed to be player operated, this seems unnecessary. |

I'm suggesting Slightly protected gunners, brought in by 2 rdvs, 35k total sp before being fit , 6 mil price tag(for beta only of course) 2/3 hav speed, and a ladder |

there is no way the MCC will ever be fully "flyable". I hope not, anyway. my guess is the "Commander" will be able to select "rally" spots, where the MCC will move to. but even then, why would a ground MCC be any less viable? would you be opposed to having multiple spawn points?
also, I really do hope they add in vehicle supply depos.
also, small turret slots would be best used for logi.
and considering installations, calling in an installation on a Capital would be "invalid drop zone", or if a capital moves in the way of the installation, I suggest the installation blow up, whilst the capital vehicle sustains mild collision damage. installatios should not be used as paid mini-orbitals. they should be placed strategically, and be priced to reflect that. but thats a different topic ;) |

alarmingly close to my innitial idea. particularly the ladder ;) But even if they started on it tomorrow, we wouldn't see it for the beta. hence a billion ISK+ and 50k+ EHP. but very little in the way of self defense. It's survival would depend on it's team, not to mention, just like in EVE, Caps aren't allowed in high-sec. no billion-ISK pub stomps for you |
