During his response in terms of the ps4 he only talked about brining it possibly through gaikai and he seems to think that dust 514 will live on the ps3 just fine like how eve has survived on the pc, but i think he seems to forget that with pc people and always upgrading and the ps3 has it's limits. My fear is that with that kind of attitude people might forget about this game within a year's time when the next gen consoles are out and people are playing other games.

I think they seriously need to look at even just porting it over to ps4 without any graphical upgrades because since ps4 isnt backwards compatible are people really going to keep a ps3 when they already have a ps4?

For sure some people will but the majority will switch to ps4 and thus a vast player base is gone since it's a ps3 exclusive and soon enough after ps4 is out i can see the game dying out and people forgetting about it unless a ps4 port is made.

Seriously who would move to buy a brand new console the moment it comes out? Give it some time for the problems to be fixed and for there to be a good game library. Thats my thoughts. PS3 will keep me happy for a couple more years before I start to consider the move.

^ The PS4 will only be able to play PS3 games over Gaikai. The PS4 itself is not compatible. Thing is, it's only something they "plan on" doing. They never actually confirmed that PS3 games will be on Gaikai.

Yeah, I'm going to repeat what I did at the start of the current generation and give the consoles a year to ripen before purchasing. (Only this time I'll be doing it by choice.)

It's not like I've even come close to playing everything currently available. I haven't even started Mass Effect 1 yet.

who sayd that the support is going to drop on the PS3? Sure the PS4 is coming later on this year but who gives a damn? Not excited to get a PS4 at launch day only to play another COD. And dust doesnt has reached its limit yet. Look at the graphics there is still alot of space to improve even if it stays on PS3. Another thing is alot of games have beeing made for PS2 after the PS3 came out. So new titles will be avaible for like 1-2 years on both systems. Simply due to the fact that there are tons of consoles out there and missing out the opportunity to make money would be a very dumb move. And PSN will remain avaible on the PS3. Another thing is experienced console players wont buy at the launch day due to problems with the hardware. Alot of day 1 consoles die usually faster then their counterparts which come out later. Well i can allready tell its going to be like this:
-PS4 with alot of fancy functions (fat variant)
-PS4 with less functions but cheaper
-PS4 slim
-PS4 ultra slim
-next gen console

This is the natural evolution of consoles at the moment. And that the PS4 is coming out on the holiday season this year i will expect the obvious COD bundle with modern campfare 4.

No Dust on PS4?

Well, **** this is depressing news. :(

First of all I want to clear up a very important distinction of who was on the live stream with IGN. He is not a developer he is the marketing officer for CCP and quite frankly I wouldn't give pretty much anything he said a second thought since when asked when we will get scopes his response was "wow that's a great idea". Unfortunately Mr Reid is woefully out of touch with the game he is promoting considering the actual developers have told us months ago that weapon customization including scopes is already being worked on. So I wouldn't let his apparent lack of understanding of the games direction a year from now bother you since he doesn't even seem to know the current state of the game.

The really sad part is I think this marketing event had a more harmful affect to the games PR than positive since anyone who hasn't played dust comes away with the impression that CCP has no idea scopes on rifles in a FPS is a good idea or as you were given the impression that dust will be stuck on ps3. I really hope CCP does some damage control here to fix the misinformation passed on to potential players by the companies Chief Marketing Officer. A truly wonderful game can be destroyed by terrible marketing and this event makes me worry.

if CCP are not developing for the ps4 they have really really dropped the ball here. admitly for the first year or two it will be a none issue. but after a while if they dont catch up they will suddenly find their playerbase is gone.

If DUST isn't running PS4 native within 1 year of console launch it's game over. Honestly it should be running day 1 if they want any chance of playerbase retention.
