I'm not totally understanding the whole concept of racial suits so can anyone give me a rundown?
Is it like how every faction will have their own variation of the scout, assault, logi, and heavy classes? |

Here is how the races in eve works in terms of tanks ( damage absorbotion ) and fitting. Caldari focus on passive shield tanking. Think no active bosters. They tend to have larger shield amounts and higher cpu then powergrid. Minimitar do both armor and shield and are known as the jack of all trades. Some ships do armor and shield. The general( or supposed consistency) is active shield tanking. More CPU then powergrid. Gallente are active armor tankers. More powergrid then cpu and more low slots. Amarr have the highest base armor and are slow. More powergrid the CPU. Because there is no active dropsuit tanking it will be interesting to see what happens. The cpu / powergrid , tanking types and slot layouts( or atleast the armor races will have more lows/less highs) will likely be the same. The base armor shield ammounts will likely vary per race. Ooo forgot to mention minnie are fastest. |

It is confirmed, when is not. It could be years away or next patch. Once wolfman gives us the long promised dev blog we will know more.
In long run we will have 6(or more) suit types for each race, 20+ dropsuit skills to train is coming someday.

That may be true, but with their racial speed, imaging their strafe speeds. An assault suit that can strafe and run like a scout without having to equip any mods to do so.... |

They will also have their own flavor.
For instance Amarr Heavies look like they're wearing robes and Gallente Scouts look like runway models.
