I'm usually in the top 5, but as a sniper most of my kills come from people using my uplinks, nanohives, and the kills I acquire through battle. I play about 5-7 skirmish battles a day, with a max of about 10, yet I'm still hitting the skill cap one or two days before the reset.
I find this unacceptable. I understand they don't want people to spec up too quickly, but I'm not playing this game for eight hours a day here.
I know I'm not the only one that stops having the desire to play once my SP rewards for my efforts grind to a screeching halt. Other games and hobbies start to look more appealing once the SP gains becomes so minimal.
Perhaps cut our SP gains in 1/2 once we hit the cap, or even 1/3. Getting only 1,000 SP for a long drawn out intensive effort when level V skills require over 300,000 SP is kind of like a slap in the face.
Discuss. Personally, I think we're making too many sp too fast - peeps shouldn't be in proto this soon.
I say lower the cap by 25% and cut the rate of skillpoint gain by 50%.

Your view is biased my friend. You consider proto suits as some kind of end game. but trust that there will be many many many more suits, way way way way way more competitive and SP requiring over time. Whats sounds like the most powerfull stuff now wont be for long. Thus another reason why "Sp-galooza" wasnt a good idea as some 24/7 grinders would have stockpile SPs quite fast and then be able to MAX OUT any new skill and get every new "proto suit' or gear day-one they're added. I disagree. Suits are one thing, and open to speculation(fwiw, i'm betting your assumption about how much the relative powers of suits will scale is wrong. Separate discussion tho.)
The real measure is how long does it take to level the core support skills. I think we can all agree that 3-4 months(maybe 5-6 months for a player who is struggling) is enough to completely max the core CPU/Grid/Fitting/Sheild/Armor skills and more.
For me, that's too fast - I want the decisions to be harder and more momentus when a merc is deciding where to put his skillpoints. I want pushing that button to spend the skillpoints to have repercussions.
That's my bias. |
