Basically, just as the subject implies, what are the best skills to pickup and equipment for a field medic?
I role a logi with a militia nano / militia armor rep with increased scanner and decrased profile so i can see the enemy, stay off their radar, and do my job healing the tank and reviving him if he goes down. This is fun for a really cheap option to get into being a medic. But I would like to expand abilities to heal quicker.
The triage rep tool seems like the best option. The other would be the one that splits into two beams to heal two targets, but tbh i have trouble finding folks with low armor as it is, unless I am actively following them into combat. Not sure a second beam helps as much as increased healing per second.
Are their skills or modules that increase the heal rate? Some of the armor rep skills, I dont know if they apply to armor rep modules, or the tool.
Basically what are good skills/loadouts for medics at all price ranges? Cheap/militia, standard, advanced and proto? |

To me, medics fill their role best by fighting along squadmates and healing damage between firefights. Healing speed is insignificant compared to killing speed, so its best left "second priority, oil in squad cogs" -type of thing.
For this purpose, a triple shield extended fit with mass driver is foolproof, AR if you are proficient with one. Speed mods and shotgun would also fit with the shield tank... |

I'm completely with Kronos. You shouldn't be able to use being a logi as a crutch to not put up numbers. You are an assault unit who does pickups, drops ammo, and reps between shooting newbs in the face. 3 extenders, 2 regulators, and an armor repair is what i roll with.
I need to survive longer than everyone else and get my hp back as fast as possible to ensure i can take some shots while putting some reps out. Thats how i roll and its not often you'll see me anwhere but the top of the kill board. I'll put up as many kills as anyone else and have the extra war points for my logi duties. |

That's fair. But with that mentality, anything beyond the basic triage rep tool is useless.
I am trying to think outside the FPS box, and see if MMO style mechanics can perhaps be used as a valid strategy. The question remains if there are any skills that actually increase the rate of heal for the tool, or any modules that do so. As far as I know, no, but if so, it may be possible to build a "healer" type role.
If its not possible to provide enough healing to counter a signifigant amount of incoming damage, then obviously healing mid combat would be counter productive. The question is if it is possible to do so. If the answer is simply no, that's fine.
What is the typical DPS of most ARs against a heavy with basic level implants for damage reduction? If the rep tool can get up to even half that, it may be useful to act as a healer, keeping the heavy up and on smaller engagements. If ARs are dealing 300 DPS and the heal took can get to like 50, then yay, it would probably be more beneficial to have another gun in the fight instead of keeping the heavy alive for another second. |

Up your repair tool level, many people underestimate the power of constantly repping a guy in a firefight. I've put in many hours on tf2 and to me this is how a medic should be, always be ready with a repair tool and a nanohive, gun skills can come later.
Trust me I've played entire matches using nothing but my six kin triage and nanohives, my teammates never die.
Logis are force multipliers, not the forces being multiplied. Support your team indirectly, let your team take care of the enemy, and you take care of your team.
(triage repair tool is suggested cheap yet effective, the six kin triage is a prototype and only if you want to become the right hand of God and bestow immortality to the masses (two at a time)) |

I'm trying to get into LogiBro, but it's hard when you like to run and gun. Requires a lot of patience and you have to learn to be humble.
Trying to work on this with my HMG buddy....did okay last night, but I need to spend more time repairing him. I see a juicy red coming and I try to take him out where I should be hanging out behind his big, plump rear.
I tip my hat to all the LogiBros out there......it's not as easy as people think. |

The only people you repair whilst under fire are heavies. They have enough armour for your repairing to actually mean something in the bigger picture. If you're squadding with assaults, keep your weapon out and enhance their deadly medium ranged DPS, then heal after you kill all nearby reds.
Your survival is imperative. If that means bailing on that one guy who thinks he's invincible cause he has a medic with him, do it. Get back to a group, push forward, and perhaps you'll revive that guy who is now one bit humbler for knowledge of the mistake he made.
You'll want to invest SP into combat engineering and circuitry. Advanced gear later on is expensive will definitely need that extra CPU/PG room.
Furthermore, given the amount of SP your logistics dropsuit and equipment will take up, not to mention the modules you'll want to keep you alive, it'd be best to specialise into one weapon. Two max. You don't want to spread yourself too thin, not now. People are rolling in better gear and you need to do the same. |

Do not skill into SMG initially... it does not have the range to be effective nor keep you alive in a group. AR or MD are much better and add distance. Laser if you like that sort of thing. SMG can be effective skilled up if you have a higher suit and better survive passives but these are not options when first starting. |
