A. [Boot Camp]
A Player vs AI map where 16 rookies get to join up and gets bossed around by an AI leader who tells them how to move, walk etc. etc. Doing something out of line or rushing into the enemy (sacrificing yourself into the enemy AI line etc. etc.) gets you punished.
B. [Smart Communication]
Smart Communication is an idea to bring the Players closer to each other and be able to do simplified Communication with each other. I find myself frustrated because there is no way to communicate with your team mates or tell them about your "desires". Someone rushes straight forward into a group of enemies I spotted, it takes too much time to write anything and warn him, and my microphone doesn't work for PS3 (as far as I know). The PS3 Controller is very limited in its use but I believe it could serve a function.
1. [Smart Texts] that I can easily access, customize and write out. So that I can, for instance, jump into the "Chat" and quickly say "Go to B quickly!" or "Need assistance!" or similar. Texts should write out above the Player's head, so that other Players can see, know and register who said what and can join in together into the teamwork aspects.
2. [Smart Pings] basically something League of Legends is doing for a future update. But for Dust with 16 players on each team, perhaps only the Squad Leaders should have control of it (and they already have). An EVE Player could control this even further. This is almost entirely lacking in Dust currently.
3. [Smart Expressions] want your teammates to walk slower? Duck? Do you have a specific tactic? Add an icon above your head (that only your team can see) that expresses this. Is this a tactical squad? A recon squad? What kind of squad is it? Could an EVE Player designate and give different jobs to Dust Players on the map? Perhaps just express a sudden exclamation mark as you notice someone.
I believe that all of these would aid Dust514 as an experience. It really is a great game but it falls short so many times when Players don't seem to know what they are doing, kind of like the very first time I played Woodsball (Paintball), there was no good organization in how to make teamwork, work. Or rather, there wasn't any indication of it at all. It was more or less "I pay you, you give me gun, thanks".
I want an experience, not just some shootah-bootah, where teamwork matters.
Have a great day, peace :) |

Sorry for double post but couldn't resist excitement/inspiration.
Dust 514+EVE Online in combination can work like a League of Legends game (although way more advanced of course).
Bot Lane, Mid Lane, Top Lane.
16 Players = 3 Squads with 4 Players in Each.
I think that Squads is something that should be presented to the Player almost instantly as you join a Battle and then get some automatic visual feedback that confirms "You are part of this Squad, stick together team" or something.
The EVE Player could function as a Map Support, a Commander (which is what its meant to be like?) who not only drops bombs but could work as a sort of "Intelligence Provider" for the Dust 514 Players.
For instance, telling the Dust players to go defend position B because a Scan the EVE Player did, revealed incoming hostiles.
Peace :)
EDIT: Or the EVE Player could provide intelligence in "Defense". Later, when Dust starts to stabilize, there could even be long world map campaigns (Big Game) and R&D could be involved. "Enemy Intel" wouldn't just be getting "There is the enemy", but a Dust player accessing an enemy R&D facility and learning what the enemy is researching. This is way into the future though. But a vision, nonetheless :) |
