I've been thinking since moving vehicles generally aren't the perfered gun platform that remote controlled drones could be the answer to that, the only restrictions I think there should be are what drones can be launched from particular launchers and pg/cpu fpr said launchers. For each launcher there should be a air and land variant. These drones would have a streamlined fitting done by the gunner for basic needs of the drone such as weapon(s) and tank
Light laincher
Designed for lavs but can be used on dropships for more comfortable fitting. The air drone would be like a miniature fighter with vtol capabilities, extremely fragile but just as fast as it is fragile, the ground would be fundamentally the same as a micro lav but with no spaces for a passenger. |

Medium drone launcher
These would be able to fire light and medium drones but their pg would be in excess of 200 units per launcher. Both drones would visually be about 2/3 the size of a scout suit. These would carry marginally increased firepower than their lighter versions while being a bit less agile and have a lower max speed. The air version would visually be a dual prop helicopter and the land one would have an elevated frame kept in place by stilt like projections which would have wheels at the end. Unlike their smaller versions they'd have full 360 shooting instead of a limited aiming axis in the front.
Another advantage these would have is being able to carry a secondary weapon which would be less effective than the primary but offer more flexiblility (think having a sniper rifle but carrying an smg for close range) or an auxiliary weapon to maintain range after you need to reload (shotgun and smg combo). To keep larger drones from becoming overall bettrr than the smaller ones these would be around 3 times the light drone's size |

Heavy launcher
This is the point where drones become relatively devastating. It would be at or in excess of 400 pg. Both types would carry 2 main weapons (small turrets) and have the ability to toggle both weapons for use at the same time. These would have the overall size of an assault suit. The air version would look like a combination of a B2 bomber with the propulsion system of a V 22 osprey but it would also have a bulkier bottom to increase it's size to match it's firepower. The land one would look a lot like a bmp but have a more prominent turret base to support both guns on the sides of the turret base. These would be significantly less agile a accelerate slower than the medium version but have similar top speed |

I think CCP could borrow a thing or two from the Drone bots in KZ3 |

Very interesting idea. I can already visualize the drone being launched, watching as a 2-3 meter ball flies towards you, impacts the ground, then rises up and begins opening fire on nearby hostiles. Wow. This must be in now. Make it so, Number One. |

I like it. Another option might be to have the drones lock on to targets/areas, and it might be possible for the driver to flag targets for them
Another option could be an area-denial flak turret, that could possibly harm the vehicle itself. |

I like those ideas but those are more point defense type drones, with these I'm looking to be able to actively defend the vehicle |

on that note perhaps the drones could intercept oncoming swarms either by shooting them or by blocking them. |

I like tgat but only as an alternative way to disable swarms, pilots need a manual way also |

I like the idea of this kind of drone, but I would like to see other kinds of drones operated in different fashions.
That being said, I still like this idea. |
