I think everyone agrees that this is the trailer that made everyone think DUST 514 so awesome in theory and practice, and in the 2009 Fanfest Demo they showed that they were actually really close to making it that way. Now however, it's feeling more and more like your average FPS - in space. Don't get me wrong, I will always stick by DUST and do my best as a beta tester, and try and expand more within the community, simply because I love the potential to how DUST can evolve, especially as it is linked to EVE Online (aka the best game ever). However I feel as though CCP has lost sight of just how amazing this game was, getting sidetracked by OP threads, nerf this, nerf that, hurr durr tanks, etc,. Yes, balancing is needed. But it isn't broken. The biggest thing broken now (missile turrets) can be replaced whilst we wait, and the second biggest thing (dropships) can - in my opinion - wait if we can get a game as good as that trailer.
In all, I feel like this game is progressing to slowly to reach it's release date potential - the trailer level gameplay. Is it because CCP has too small of a team to work on DUST or not, I don't know. All I know is that a lot of my expectations for this game have not been met, and I'm sorry. I've been here since the closed beta, and seen the changes - and there have been many. Unfortunately, I just don't feel like there's enough.
I'm sorry if anyone recieves this post badly, I'm just putting it out there so CCP can know how I feel about the game in general, and hopefully gain greater understanding of its playerbase.
Again though, I will stick with DUST 514 to the end! |

Yes, balancing is needed This. I feel the game is fairly balanced right now. The bugs could use some work, but balance wise the game is fine. CCP should stop listening to the QQers and move on to other things. |

That was not real gameplay, this is real gameplay from 2009: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ED-YF-v7WCw
Also, may be more helpful to mention specifics you liked about that vid you linked that is missing from Dust. Obviously there is the better visuals, but what else? |

The game it self is advertise as a "FPS MMORPG", right now is a "shooting MOBA", CCP is giving you EvE fans, exactly what you been asking for, and you still complaining about it ?
What you want ? a game where everything is instant kills ? A game that claims to be a FPS, needs to have some decent balance in that department. |

The OP isn't stating that balance isn't important or needed, only that he feels that its taken priority over the other areas of progress needed. |

Balance makes or breaks a game, CCP is doing exactly the right thing at this stage of development. |

Balance is the most important aspect of the game. Balance doesn't effect gameplay. Balance IS gameplay. OTHER things like music, graphics, new maps, sound effects, game modes, etc. EFFECT gameplay but do not define it as much as Balancing does.
On that note, it is nice to see changes and updates in all those other things though (like the new sound effects we had).
However, a good bit more dialog with the player base on proposed Balancing changes BEFORE implementation would be appreciated. (e.g. i loved sniping before the tighter red zones, but low-and-behold, i came back one day and there those red zones were. and i didn't even get the chance to argue against it beforehand. now sniping is a chore. i detest playing as the one class i skiled into... and it's been like that for a while now... and still no feedback or word from ccp on any thread i've opened or that i have observed other snipers open. it's rare for anyone to talk to dedicate snipers.) |

It's not realistic to expect the game to be even remotely close to the pre-rendered scenes we were given. Hell, even the resolution should be key to that. ;) |

I understand the Carbon Engine has been changed to the Unreal Engine, and that gameplay from the very gameplay that Kagehoshi linked isn't possible on the new engine, but this was in 2009. And it's incredible. The only thing that stood apart from the trailer of the game is the graphics.
For those who still want clarification (thanks for the heads up Kagehoshi), the link is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ED-YF-v7WCw |

Once the game is stable, we'll be able to move on fairly quickly.
IMO, they're wasting their time trying to achieve perfect balance before moving forward. Every build will just throw everything out of balance again. |

it's not the game man. not by a long shot.
folks don't know what they are doing. literally that simple. the video looks good because all the players are doing their jobs and aren't running around going for points.
ya gotta give it time to ebb and flow. this isn't really even basic training. it's more like the cubscouts right now. gotta let cats get their badges... then you get your bars later. if you stick it out.

I'm having trouble finding the link, but there was an interview with devs recently where the said that the FanFest build is supposed to have corp-owned districts. This would mean tat the larger game is moving forward. |
