I think everyone agrees that this is the trailer that made everyone think DUST 514 so awesome in theory and practice, and in the 2009 Fanfest Demo they showed that they were actually really close to making it that way. Now however, it's feeling more and more like your average FPS - in space. Don't get me wrong, I will always stick by DUST and do my best as a beta tester, and try and expand more within the community, simply because I love the potential to how DUST can evolve, especially as it is linked to EVE Online (aka the best game ever). However I feel as though CCP has lost sight of just how amazing this game was, getting sidetracked by OP threads, nerf this, nerf that, hurr durr tanks, etc,. Yes, balancing is needed. But it isn't broken. The biggest thing broken now (missile turrets) can be replaced whilst we wait, and the second biggest thing (dropships) can - in my opinion - wait if we can get a game as good as that trailer.
In all, I feel like this game is progressing to slowly to reach it's release date potential - the trailer level gameplay. Is it because CCP has too small of a team to work on DUST or not, I don't know. All I know is that a lot of my expectations for this game have not been met, and I'm sorry. I've been here since the closed beta, and seen the changes - and there have been many. Unfortunately, I just don't feel like there's enough.
I'm sorry if anyone recieves this post badly, I'm just putting it out there so CCP can know how I feel about the game in general, and hopefully gain greater understanding of its playerbase.
Again though, I will stick with DUST 514 to the end! |

KAGEHOSHI Horned Wolf wrote:That was not real gameplay, this is real gameplay from 2009: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ED-YF-v7WCwAlso, may be more helpful to mention specifics you liked about that vid you linked that is missing from Dust. Obviously there is the better visuals, but what else? Funnily enough, I was referring to that. The link provided was what I feel CCP should be aiming for. |

I understand the Carbon Engine has been changed to the Unreal Engine, and that gameplay from the very gameplay that Kagehoshi linked isn't possible on the new engine, but this was in 2009. And it's incredible. The only thing that stood apart from the trailer of the game is the graphics.
For those who still want clarification (thanks for the heads up Kagehoshi), the link is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ED-YF-v7WCw |

Vaerana Myshtana wrote:I'm having trouble finding the link, but there was an interview with devs recently where the said that the FanFest build is supposed to have corp-owned districts. This would mean tat the larger game is moving forward. Understood, I just feel that at this pace we won't get to that stage until next year. Or the next. |
