With the onslaught of PS4 threads popping up all over the place concerning Dust 514 being ported over, I'm curious as to what would happen in Dust 514 if gaming had NO TECHNOLOGICAL BARRIERS. Meaning no limit to graphical capability, no limit to processing power, no load screens/lag/bugs/balance issues - whatever it may be. I want to see what would happen in YOUR EYES if Dust 514 was absolutely the most profound game EVER.
Also, do try not to take this too seriously This is solely for fun!
So essentially the rules are as follows:
1.) Describe an event in however much detail needed to get the story across (though I'd imagine if it's too long people will ignore it). 2.) That event MUST pertain to the Dust 514 universe (this is a forum rule for general discussion!) 3.) The description of the event MUST assume that there are NO REAL LIFE TECHNOLOGICAL BARRIERS preventing the event from taking place IN DUST 514. 4.) Obviously, your writing must follow all Forum rules. 5.) Obviously, the more creative the better. 6.) Assume that this alternative universe has ABSOLUTELY NO BUGS OR BALANCE ISSUES - everything is fair game! 7.) Do not be afraid to go into the realm of disbelief - Heavies can seem like mass murdering vanguards from Vanquish and Scouts can parkour their way to victory as per Brink/Mirror's Edge/Metal Gear Rising. 8.) ASSUME that there were never any limitations on weapons/maps/gameplay elements - this Dust 514 world is YOURS so feel free to add in whatever makes your story seem all the more awesome! 9.) While not required, it's generally preferred that it adheres to the Lore of New Eden
I'll begin with an example:
A Minmatar Scout runs about a battlefield on a Barren Planet, explosions lighting up all around him as multiple destroyers in orbit over the planet light up the ground below, having never had the limitation of War Points to attain that end. Due to multiple kinetic catalyzers fitted to the Minmatar Scout suit, known for it's usage of Skirmish Warfare tactics, he quickly darts between each of the explosions with adept precision.
In each of his hands are melee weapons that appear to look like hatchets with tribal engraving and the words "Vherokior Tribe" imprinted near the handle. A ridiculous resolution showing every single detail of the weapons, right down to the scratches inflicted from previous uses on other Dust Mercs - tessellation further improving these details and rounding out the 'polygons'. A brutal looking particle effect shows a heated blade edge that glows with smoke trailing behind.
He leaps up and bounds off of an Amarr HAV, twisting his lower half through the player's use of the controller and landing into a dead sprint. He swings the melee weapon into an Amarrian Heavy who can't quit turn in time to use his Gatling Pulse Laser, the armor being visibly sundered through destructive environment technology and blood spurting out not as a sprite or rendered animation but as a particle effect, permanently coating the map and anything it touches in a crimson stain.
The Heavy falls to the ground and through the technological marvel of Unlimited Capability, his body stays there even after his player respawns, adding to the growing mountain of bodies that occasionally flop about due to an advanced physics engine that ties in with the game's Mass mechanics. |

I woke up where I fell asleep, in a brothel on some Caldari colony. As the tattooed hostess came to tell me I was nearly out of ISK and would have to leave within the week, I started to think of what sorry corp I would scam next. I was about to ask her to bring up a dossier of all the ships stationed there when I felt a gut wrenching sickness. I realized I forgot to leave the VR and feed my Earth body |
