Now I understand the need for a fix, however its unfortunate that you have to code something in, that will be circumvented by a rubber band.
Not sure what the fix should be but there enough willing and smart players in this forum to come up with a better solution than an-áanti idle penalty.
It would be cool if the anti idle penalty automatically sky spawns you in randomly like ambush. Every now and then you look up to see some random falling from the sky only to do the death bounce cause he was afk.

i personally don't think they should change anything. but if they must, then make it so the players cant get any SP when they are in their own red-line, what do you think? |

Instead of SP for every second in battle, how about SP for distance traveled or Idk... for WP? |

Well the most obvious fix for part of the problem that would harm no one, is no SP per second while in the MCC. This will force AFK players to get out of the MCC and go somewhere in the redline, where they are more susceptible to TKing by spiteful friendlies who hate AFK farmers.
Now a more complete solution would be to have no SP per second while behind the redline, but this would be salt in the wounds for teams that get redlined and cannot get out to matter how hard they try. But it would certainly eliminate a lot of AFK farming.
Other option would be some kind if distance traveled idle detection thing, but what about the snipers that just sit on one spot?

Do you have any idea how much of an orgasmic bliss I would have with my soon-to-be Prototype scout suit fitted with complex kinetic catalyzers if that idea became reality? What would be the point of participating in the match if all I have to do is run a 26-mile marathon to farm points? |

This has merit and also discourages redline sniping/tanking also.
It also makes it very important to not be red lined encouraging them to drop up links and work harder to not be driven back.
Could be a simple solution. |

There would be a limit as to how many you can gain in a match, or you'd start getting diminishing returns after a certain amount distance traveled. |

I see a problem with this. Since you can win a match by reducing your opponents clones to 0, what happens if you get redlined and in the procces you wipe out the enemy team? Should the winning team get no SP for that? I mention this, becuase this has actually happened to me once or twice. We got redlined early on, and the enemy team seemed content to throw themselves at us like lemmings for the rest of the match.
Also, I would like to add, that while I have never played FW or Corp matches, I think that whatever solution they come up with should be kept out of it. Meaning that the solution should be for Pub Matches only. I personally feel that Corps should be able to police themselves, and if, for whatever reason, they decide to keep a guy or two behind the redline, then the people left behind shouldn't be penalized for following orders. If Corps don't like how a player on their team is acting/playing/doing whatever, then they should decide how they want to handle that, not the system. |

Personally, I think this is wasted dev resources. Make the game less boring or at least give us more avenues for SP and people will have a desire to actually play. |

A slight change from no movement at all counting as idle, to being a change in movement would make it alot harder to afk. So if the analog stick hasn't changed a certain small degree in a minute, then it counts as being idle. No rubber band solution to that, but i'm sure there is a way around it. |

You know, this might be happening.
I saw a guy with no shields or armor WAY up in the sky earlier today. I thought he was in the Red MCC, but no, he was just floating in the sky and then he died.
I've also been seeing mercs dropping from the sky over the battlefield with no DSs in sight.
Perhaps one of the devs is experimenting with an AFK farmer cannon?
