In an interview with the Devs, I heard them talk about getting more race specific dropsuits and adding bonuses to the intended role for the suits. With this information, I am fearful of upgrading to unlock an advanced suit of any type as I don't want to waste the points. So my question is, when they release the patch with this update, will they refund the skillpoints for race specific dropsuits?
I really want to stick with Amarr tech and I am geared up for Logistics already and looking to put more points into dropsuits to get more low slots on the advanced logi suit. I'm sure I'm not the only one that is waiting to drop skill points until this patch and it would be great if we could get a definitive answer from a dev stating one way or another if points will be refunded or not. I'm cool either way, I just want to know so I can plan accordingly.
Thanks in advance devs. |

What I hope they do is reset all SP invested in dropsuits and add 4 skills per race and from there we can spec into our favored dropsuit in our race. Or rename the dropsuit skill to just "ETC" dropsuit and add racial dropsuit variations to the market. |

I don't want them to reset all the SP. People have been working towards a play style and it won't change that much with different dropsuits in the role you have been training for. What would happen is people would reskill into completely new areas, hate it, and regret that they no have 2 million wasted skill points and quit.
No, dont' reset all SP. Most people would reassign points into bad places and it would be bad for the game as a whole. But just refunding a specific dropsuit training won't have a big impact. They will just do one of two things, reskill right back into the same dropsuits or pick a new sub-type to skill in to and basically play the same. If they choose poorly, they only have a short time to wait until they can skill back in to the first dropsuit type. |

Been discussed. Veteran EVE players understand CCP's direction and don't expect or even want an SP refund. FPS guys want refund to be able to switch to FoTM.
Don't expect a refund. Work on core skills or save your SP if you don't want to train anything that is already on the market. |

hmmm.....I want to spec into the logistics suit that gives me better repair rate myself, though honestly I'd prefer one that made injecting people with injectors faster, so i didn't leave myself open to getting sniped quite as long.
half the time I don't pick people up cause I have no idea if the person that killed them is watching me through a scope.

Funny enough, Minmatar Logistics was something I wanted at the beginning. I am waiting on Minmatar LAV though and will likely train up Minmatar Scout when it becomes available.

W00T my Minmatar Brother I want my Logistics suit!!
Also most likely you will need drop suit command up to lvl 5 as it says in the skill info that lvl allows you to get suit options. |

Ya I'm am an EVE vet in a way. I've been saving points and refuse to drop them into Logi past the standard suit, got a BPO to save for the future. I would be happy if they just said "No refunds on dropsuit skills" just part of me wants to get an advanced suit now! :) But I have just recently got my last core x1 skill to lvl 5, so I have been good on working up my basic skills. |

Get drop suit command, as most of us believe it will be a requirement for any of these new suits.
I'm guessing that the new suits will be advanced or Proto suits, not sure if anything lower is coming. |

Sounds good, so many whiners on the forums I failed to recognize a real discussion.
I went ahead and trained for Logistics A-Series but I find myself mostly running my Sever anyway to fatten the wallet. I just finished my last Rank 1 non-vehicle skill last night too.

What I think is going to happen with the racial dropsuits is this:
Current dropsuit specializations lose the racial part of the name (Caldari Assault Dropsuit becomes Assault Dropsuit, for example).
Each class of Dropsuit has 4 main variants, Caldari, Minmatar, Gallente, Amarr; each has the "base" stats, and "racial" stats. Base stats are given to anyone that has the appropriate Dropsuit skill trained (example, you can use any of the four Advanced A-Series Assault Dropsuits with Assault Dropsuit level 3, but the racial abilities of all the suits are locked away until you get the appropriate Racial skill to the right level [in this case, level 3])
New skills are added for racial specialization, unlocking the racial abilities of suits (Caldari Dropsuit Specialization, Gallente Dropsuit Specialization, Amarr Dropsuit Specialization, Minmitar Dropsuit Specialization), these skills will require Dropsuit Command at level 5 to train.
Racial skills unlock the racial abilities of the chosen race, regardless of Dropsuit type (Gallente Dropsuit Specialization unlocks the racial abilities of all Gallente Dropsuits, for example)
So, you have the "Class" Dropsuit skills which unlock the class of Dropsuit (Assault, Heavy, Scout, Logistics) and the Racial Dropsuit skills which unlock the racial abilities (Caldari, Minmatar, Gallente, Amarr) |

Skilling dropsuit up to lvl 5 doesn't get anything in the mean time as scanning and profiles don't have huge effects on battles right now. It may be required to get some of the special suits, but for right now, its jsut need to unlock types of suits. So mine is staying at lvl 3 for Logi for now.
I'm guessing the new suits will have shifted stats, like more shields over armor, more low slots less high slots, etc for Race Specific Dropsuits across all levels. Then for advanced and prototype, their would be role bonuses on the suits, like better resistsances, much high scan radius, faster repairs, etc.

No worries about and grats! I got mine to lvl 5 and felt super relieved. Now I don't have to feel bad about upping other skills I want to increase that make only a small difference.

Well I'm waiting to see the racial gear in general. Not just dropsuits, I want to see Minmatar tanks with autocannons, projectile AR's, Gallente assault suits with a skill bonus with our current AR... The list of possibilities goes on and on. I can't think of a tenth of the equipment and modules we could have, that works with the lore in EvE.
I can imagine CCP will refund our SP to said weapons and dropsuits. After all who in a Amarrian Heavy uses an Amarrian heavy weapon? Nobody does. So Minmatar Heavy suits may make that much loved, or hated HMG better.
It's also possible we won't get any refund. CCP hasn't said a thing about future skill trees. And all we do know is, we are not expecting to getting another character reset. |

I can see them refunding the racial Vehicle/Turret skills when they add the others, but requiring that the refunded SP be used on the same type of skill (get turret skills refunded, have to put the SP back into a turret skill. Same for vehicles, though maybe same class of vehicles [LAV, dropship, HAV]) |

Had this weird thing happen before the last reset. I had Dropsuit Command 5 and Profile Dampening 2 and the enemy kept running past me when I was in my logi suit. I had no actual dampeners running either. I would be doing the usually logi thing, keeping my time rolling and a squad of reds would just run right past me. If I wasn't directly in their line of sight and the chevron didn't pop over my head I was effectively invisible. I guess a lot of people are watching the radar more than scanning visually than I figured.
I plan to test this again over the next few days. |

There is no OFFICAL plan of what is going to happen to skill points in suits that get turned into their racial variants.
CCP is not OBLIGATED to reset skill points. CCP is not OBLIGATED to refund skill points in any portion.
If we are lucky, CCP will grace us with their generosity and refund 'only' the suit skill that gets racial-ed out, IE Caldari Assault Skill points when Amarr gets their own assault suits. We are unlikely to get 'duplicate skill points' as they are doing in eve with battle-cruisers and destroyers because the racial variants came out first before the racial skills ever did.
CCP Wolfman in charge of the blog and content did comment that he will state in the blog of what will happen to skill points once decided.
So there you go folks. If you are going to train any skill in preparation without loss train: Dropsuit Command V (this allows the access to dropsuit advanced classes, akin to murader for HAVs) Weaponry V (guarantees access to all the new guns) Engineering skills Mechanics skills |

Awesome. I can't wait for the Blog then. I must have missed the comment somewhere. As for the skills, I've maxed all of those except dropsuit command. As for the caps on obligated, I completely knew that and was just hoping for what they planned to do, if they were so inclined. I know they are writing a blog post currently, and can't wait to see what is in it past the dropsuits. :) |
