Hi,
Only just started playing so excuse me if this is general knowledge. I just want to know whats the point in spending real cash in the store when the game is in beta. Will you get the AUR back (or whatever it's called) when the game goes live? I expect the game will wipe at proper release or is that incorrect?
I was thinking of buying the starter pack but I don't want to waste my money if the items I buy could get wiped at any time.

The game wont be wiped at release. A dev already confirmed this. All the skill points/ war points, kills, deaths, isk, aur, items bought, you have will all transfer over. |

At this point, being Open Beta, the game is pretty much set as it's going to be mechanics-wise. While for some vets that may not be the best of news but from here on out we should only be expecting new features updates (though those may take some tweaking before version 1.0 as well).
AUR was reset a few times during the closed Beta and then before the Open Beta again but now prices are set and as such spending money on AUR to get related items is final. This isn't the best of news with BPO's now being so absurdly expensive (The 40k from the Merc Pack basically will buy you ONE BPO loadout), but it is what it is...
As to whether it's worth it or not, that choice is yours. I'm glad to have the AUR I have for UVTs, but I personally don't expect I'll be purchasing any more AUR gear. Still, many others will; enough so that CCP feels said micro-transactions will justify the effort in developing and creating this amazing game for and with us.
Yes I said WITH. Anyone who only joined in the Open Beta has no idea how far we've come in making this a game for gamers by gamers. |

I've been through several new releases/patches during the development. IF the change was so great as to demand a total restart then all AUR or purchased items were reset. This included spend down items bought in the Mercenary pack such as the hacked drop uplinks, shotgun, grenades, etc. I was also then allowed to reassign the things to whichever toon I wanted so could move my Dragonfly Scout suit to the one I wanted to be a sniper, etc.
SP, ISK, and training was reset on these instances as well so was kind of nice to have a total and complete fresh start. |

i would like to point something out in regards to the AUR transactions and the IRL market. when you purchase AUR and you sit on it . you have no tangible asset . being that from the time you purchase AUR CCP has your money .
just to clarify for anyone wondering, :) so when they adjust prices all they are bagging on is you buy the big AUR or the little AUR
i have found when people look at it like this they understand the market better |
