That doesn't seem very lore friendly. Fun? Yes. I wouldn't want it in-game though, it wouldn't fit very well.
You could barely fit in swords or axes into the lore, a bow just wouldn't work. |

Even the most modern and high tech bows today are still way behind in power and accuracy compared to firearms. The guns we have are even more advanced than anything we have on Earth right now also, making bows even more useless by comparison. A string launched projectile wouldn't be able to put a dent on our shielded and armored high tech dropsuits.
I don't see why anyone can make a bow, when they can propel the projectile from some kind of gun instead, because of the gun's power, accuracy, and advantages (like not having to reload after one shot).
If you want something between sniper and AR, use the laser, or wait for the scrambler rifle (might be like that).
I assumed he read the first Horus Heresy book where the Interex had bowmen that had arrow like projectiles that would pierce the Space Marines armor without any issue.
However the difference is the bow had been established in Interex lore, and they had the advantage of outnumbering the Space Marines and home base advantage. The only way it would be effective is if it was a one hit kill similar to Shotguns, but that would be rediculous from any sort of range. |

Nova Knives as a side arm. Bowstring is enhanced with "smart nanomachines" that automatically adjust tension to allow the user to pull bow and still provide speed enough for the projectile to penetrate even the heaviest armor dropsuit.
Capable of damaging armor right through shields with it's transphasic piercing tip. (Wait, "transphasic" is a term from Star Trek. I'm getting my techno-babble mixed up. Let's call it a Flux Arrow. Auto-penetrates shields.)
lol don't knock the bow idea. I welcome it. Just like the skull of anyone using it, will welcome a flechette from my sniper rifle. ^,..,^
The biggest problem being you have to draw, aim, fire, grab another, draw, aim, fire. In the time that would take you would probably be dead unless the first shot kills instantly, which would be a little overpowered considering you could do it from range and it wouldn't even be a headshot. |
