I will probably watch the announcement.
But no, I don't really see over 70 million people going out and buying a next generation playstation all during the month of December.
Most users will probably wait between a year and 2 years to upgrade. |

from what i been hearing about the PS4, i hope many people don't get it. they are putting alot of emphasis on garbage social media and other useless crap instead of games.
and with the whole no used games thing looming ahead i don't see it going over well for anyone. i am not going to spend 400 dollars on a system just for this game. |

Don't worry dude, as soon as the initial hype goes down just like the Wii U, it will be awhile before we hear anything remotely interesting enough to justify buying one any time soon. Just like the transition from PS2 to PS3, it will be at least a good solid year or two and a $100 price drop before the PS4 becomes the new common standard over PS3.  |

Also you can bet the PS4 will be absolutely jam packed with DRM. Probably won't be able to play CD's, DVD's or watch/use media off a HDD/USB unless it has been authenticated as the original that you purchased.
And I'm sure the PS4 will have some mega spying ability too, feeding Sony (and whoever is interested *cough*government*cough*) all your activity. So don't go watching a movie, or listening to music, unless you are absolutely certain it has been approved by the powers that be (the combination of country and Christian music will automatically trigger an alert to the authorities that you are a bible-thumping gun-toting tea party terrorist, and they will come by later for an 'inspection' of your house). |

When Im watching a movie at the cinema, and some dude pokes me every 30 mins to tell me that the popcorn is really good, Id be more inclined to punch him in the crown jewels than buy the popcorn.
Sony, somethings arn't patented because the idea is so ******* stupid nobody wants it. |

sad part is, that it is realistic. sony has been looking for profit everywhere. |

I can't see ccp allowing advertising in dust.
Tere would be a monumental backlash in eve and dust. The only way it would happen if Dust wasn't making any money, and I think they would rather include some kind of subscription model before going to adverts. |

I will watch the event, but to be honest I've never been a huge console fanboy. The only reason I bought a PS3 in Jan. 2010 was because I wanted to play DUST 514. (True story)
But the one thing I'm really waiting for is that Linux based Valve Steambox thingy. I hope this will make more publishers consider porting their games to Linux. I love PC gaming but I really dislike Windows. (odd, I know) |

Why the pessimism? I'm actually looking forward to it, just the new joypad is worth that to me, especially as its going to last me another 10 years. I'm getting it on PreOrder from Game I suppose.

As far as patents go Sony also got a patent to prevent playing used games and shuhei yoshido was quoted saying the ps4 will play used games. Patents dont necessarily mean its going to happen. |

Let's rundown the specs so far:
unspecified "x86" CPU core
unspecified GPU - apparently dedicated
8Gb RAM - maybe the next Bethesda game won't be so buggy with Sony...
Controller: overall not bad.
Keeps the legacy DualShock profile intact, while adapting the controller to use a touchpad, concave sticks, and a "share" feature that could potentially render capture-card hardware obsolete.
Curiously, the touchpad curls over the "top" of the controller, stopping at the Move light. As for the functionality of such a design, my first thought is rapid grenade/equipment swapping in FPS games by tapping the top portion.
In DUST, I could see that section being used to pull up and use the Weapon Wheel with one swipe, far faster than the current scheme. |
