I just played a match with my buddy, and we wanted to test this out.
What we did was, I played and did "well" I got #2 on my team with about 900WP. My buddy just went afk, and moved his controller a little so he wouldn't get booted. He ended up near the bottom of the chart
End of the match we made a few 1000 isk difference and he got only 400 less SP.
Like why would I play the game if I get the same SP as the top players, if all I have to do is log in, move every few minutes and get as much SP.... |

The difference in SP depends on how much better you do. Personally, I make twice as much SP when I actively play and earn as many war points as possible. However. I agree with your complaint. I look forward to a better SP system in the future

How did your buddy do nothing and get 500 WP?
Something is definitely off here because sitting in the MCC nets Zero WP. Just hiding at the ground spawn location, depending on the map, will produce the same Null effect. I have seen NewBs struggle to get near those numbers. A game where the bottom of the list is 500WP and the top is over 900WP will net a reasonable amount of SP for everybody in the battle.
Another test that would be more valid and more interesting, although not nearly as damning as your inaccurate post, would be to have You do nothing. And your Friend top the list with 2000+ WP. Tell us how that turns out.
CCP isn't the only one doing something hinky here, Dearest Original Poster.
FYI, CCP had a much more aggressive SP reward for WP system in place. It was unfair and disheartening to a NewB. My char commonly got 25000+ SP (Boosted) in the begging after SP Cap reset with a constantly reduced reward for every day afterwards until getting over 2000 SP was a minor miracle. Even while leading the Blues to victory.
This may or may not be the best solution but it is working significantly better than was came before. |

thats not true sitting in an mcc doing nothing will earn you 0 sp and only 120k is tops playing the actual game and scoring near number 1 will get u around 7,000 to 10,000 sp and 200 to 300 thousand isk. The reason you didnt get much is because 900 wp is super low seeing as how I can sometimes earn a orbital even in a solo squad 2500 wp. compare your 900 wp (nothing) to my 2500 wp (decent) the difference is gonna be pretty big.

Sitting around will earn you SP until you hit your cap.
Remember, it's points per second plus one point per WP. The "passive" active SP is still there.
Once you hit your cap you only earn one SP per WP up to 1,000.
