If you are good you can use better gear and still build up a ton of ISK, probably even more since your killing potential and survivability are higher. |

Yes, use your best gear all the time. I run about the most expensive fit I can (given my limited SP) and I am constantly gaining ISK, now at 33 million.
Using better gear means you stay alive longer, gets you more kills/hacks/whatever, which = profit. Quite simple really.
Give this a try, try to actually spend all your ISK by using the best possible suit you can 100% of the time for a week straight. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the results.
This is a two part mental phenomenon, one part your brain says "Ok, we are using an expensive suit... so do NOT lose it!" therefore you play smarter, learn what to avoid and what to take on, and learn better tactics and strategies. Second part is "Hey, I can survive longer now and am more efficient at doing what I do best... this is great!" this results in higher confidence, which can make a night and day difference in your gaming performance. |

Well that might work for you, and maybe me, but there is an overwhelming amount of players who simply can't go hulk mode just by equipping slightly stronger gear. They still die many times, and even if they get a few more kills, they aren't going to earn much more. It becomes very discouraging if / when they start going negative in a match.
I stay fairly even in ISK right now, between 3 and 5 million, and I run militia fits a lot. My Heavy fit is only 40k. I am however a dropship pilot >_< 600k that you're almost guaranteed to lose to something stupid? Why not |

Yes...gtfo militia gear. That's why ISK rewards are still in the $200K range.
No, you're not a bad person but just don't say anything when higher level gear beats you. And don't feel good if you're 1v1ed by adv or proto gear. Saying, "ahh he's using A series so that's why he killed me". A death counts no matter how hit happened. |

I've been having more 300k rewards recently, even one above 400k today.

Sure, I've hit 512K since the wipe. But it isn't the norm. I'm having more 300K matches now but it is still very common to have 2000wps and still earn under $300K ISK |

let's do the numbers
pro's cheap fit very flexible semi competitive
con's not to strong lower isk gain at the end of the match (but you affect this a small amount any way (the match you get isk based the over all isk spent to win the match + 100k-200k base isk)

yeah this game's funny like that...
people stay in militia gear because they want to earn ISK...yet by staying in militia gear they are missing out on ISK...
it's kind of like people who stay in militia gear because they're afraid to lose drop suits and ISK... which would force them back into militia gear...so they stay in militia gear???
As one person in my corp put it....Essentially they are forcing the worst case scenario upon themselves
yeah thier wallet may get bigger with this strategy.. but so what...refusing to spend ISK is almost the same as having zero ISK, IMO |

That's true, better fit doesn't guarantee better results. Although if somebody runs militia all the time and upgrades to, say a Gek, two complex damage mods (or shield extenders), and a type II or type B suit, they will notice a massive difference if they have put a somewhat decent amount of time into the game. Heck for me when I go from having 225 shields for a while to 291 shields, it feels like a night and day difference.
Kira Lannister wrote:I enjoy my militia armor repair!
Heck yeah! Just recently I equipped my assault suit with a basic armor repper, and it has made a huge difference for me. People may quickly poo-poo the 2HP/s and deem it too slow for any practical use, but for a shield-heavy assault suit, it makes more of a difference than I would have ever expected.

you shouldnt run anything else except for matches you care about. plus it helps to keep you sharp for when you do run more powerful suits. I see way too many guys run non stop proto/advanced gear, and losing it because they get sloppy and rely on it |
