Anyone else notice this? It's super obvious with a Burst AR. Listen to it and count the bullet holes in the wall. but the look at your clip counter. Burst fires what, 6 rounds that you see/hear? Clip says you shot 9.
HMG, just tap it. 1 bullet fired, 2 taken from clip. It reminds me back in the day to the EA build, where the higher RPM weapons actually fired less often. That's why the Breach AR was god of that build, because each bullet was fired. Like the blaster turret, inside it - fires 3 or 4 times a second, outside - fired one to two times a second. They improved that significantly, but it's still there.
Challenge! Take your AR and look at a wall. Tap the trigger and count how many bullets you fire versus how many bullets are in your clip. This should be fully fixed, not partially. |

With the SMG it's different- 1 bullet gone from the clip, and you hear 2 or 3 |

Sounds like a Sound-syncing issue. It could be that you actually did fire the correct number of bullets but the sounds are just not matching up. |

This affects the shotgun too. Sometimes it'll take two shots out of the clip when I fire. Some times, it'll take one.
I noticed it the other day, but just figured that it might have just been me and my ****** connection. |

It's not sound related, but graphical as well. I said you only see so many bullets leave and hit the wall. The sound is synced to the graphics, but those two aren't synced to the clip count. |

I've had this happen several times with my shotgun where I'll plug a round into someone and it will not have taken the round from my clip. Except that I got the kill, I wondered at first if I actually fired or if I somehow lagged out and someone else got him <_< |

This happens with one shot kills quite often. Most often with Forge Gun and headshots from sniper rifles, but it only ever seems to happen with the first shot of a clip.
of course, the next time you fire it "correctly" subtracts two shots. |

Magazine, not clip.
Clips are used to fill magazines. |

Have to give some love to this guy.
"Clips" are used in older mostly pre WWII rifles. If you can reload a weapon by detaching a portion and then attaching a new portion, it is called a magazine. No weapons in dust use clips. |

No.
On a rifle, the magazine is where rounds are stored before being fed into firing position. The magazine does not have to be detachable. Any rifle that holds more than one round has a magazine. Also, certain en bloc clips can be removed from the rifle and filled before being reinserted.
Generally speaking, clips are used to load magazines, whether the magazine is fixed or detachable, external or internal. There are two basic types of clips. Stripper clips hold rounds while the rounds are being loaded into the magazine. En bloc clips hold rounds and stay inside the magazine until emptied.
I am still generalizing to some extent here as I'm not including certain gravity feed and tubular systems, but here's the basic method that will differentiate magazines and clips for you in modern weapons :
Magazines have feed mechanisms, such as a spring and follower, to feed rounds out of the magazine. Clips are just structures that hold rounds. |

YES Because I was making a general statement about the guns in this game. Not that ALLLLLLLLL magazines are detachable. |

The magazines in dust are nothing more than chunks of metal that gets A portion shaved off as a round. Read in game description of AR. |

Not quite:

Assault rifles (currently) use very small Hybrid charges (magnetically accelerated plasma). We might someday see Minmatar Projectile ARs that use standard cartridges, Caldari Micromissile ARs (Flaylock Rifle), etc. |
