Unfortunately, even the animation of your character would suggest so, choice of a weapon does not influence movement speed. Not even when running bare handed (i.e. equipping already spend Remote Explosives)
Choice of a weapon, also, does not influence spending speed of stamina, so heavier weapons deplete it in same rate as lighter.
Side movement is cca 1/2 slower than sprint.
All this tested on STD 'Dragonfly' Scout suit with AR, NK and RE. No KCs used. Running and strafing on 50 and 100m distances. |

Actually different weapons and equipment do influence your sprinting speed, if you can't recognize the difference on your own then race someone as a constant. |

Nah mate, I did measure it just now. I was convinced it is so, and I was always switching weapons -- I will have hard time to stop now. But I measured on 50 and 100m over 20 times with stopwatch. The differences were in limit of 0.05 seconds. :(
EDIT: 0.05 was in favor to both heavier and lighter weapons, so kind a statistical error.
I should do it in couple, too. |

The turning speed IS affected, however. I noticed this the most going from always running with a sidearm, to using a mass driver. |

I didn't think it mattered from weapon to weapon but only between your main and your sidearm. Never fully tested it though, only looks that way. |

Well, I only hope something is affected, as I can't make me stop switching...
Now question is if there isn't speed difference with weapons -- should there be one, and how would they be calculated.
I think this is somewhat problematic if the measures are right and the change in animation stays deceiving. |

Yes -- tested with Assault Rifle, Nova Knives and Remote Explosives and measured over 20 times on two distances -- that is the problem as it only looks that way.

If there is one, I would say the fastest light weapon should be a shotgun, while minmatar weapons would be the fastest otherwise (the power of slings!) |

Surprise!
Why would you expect it to be different?
Seriously, falling from the MCC with the dampener enabled as soon or as late as possible makes no difference. Movement on a ladder seems to be a constant, up or down. Regardless of Suit type.
Running with a pistol instead of a Forge Gun in a Heavy will cause less heavy breathing, regardless of dating possibilities. I use it because reacting with a pistol is faster than charging a Forge Gun and the heavy breathing gets old. When equipped with any HMG the 50 round head shot is quicker. |
