Communication in Dust is one of the greatest advantages that a Squad /Team has in the game, helping to promote team work in a Squad and thecoordinated efforts of the Team as a whole. It is also their greatest weakness. Or could be.
What if, as a Squad Leader/Battlefield Commander, you had the ability to disrupt your opponents Comms, leaving them vulnerable and unable to cooordinate an assualt or active defense? Squads would no longer be able to use chat to communicate as long as the jamming signal was active. (If the game had Proxy Chat (which I believe it should), players would only be able to talk to each other if they were within range, but that's for other threads to discuss.)
This could be accomplished in two ways:
1) A passive jamming signal from the MCC (or Warbarge) that would only last a short period of time (length of time open for debate).
2) An active Jammer that could be called in much like a Supply Depot or CRU. This would force the opposing team to either hack the installation, gaining the jammer for themsleves (a Risk Versus Reward that would have to be considered before deploying it), or destroy it in order to regain Comms within their Team.
Option 2 would obviously come with the ruling that you couldn't place the Jammer inside the Redzone. The installation should always be open to attack/hacking.

I'm not entirely sold on this idea ... but on the other hand I see some excellent tactics being made for these installations.
I guess we'll see how this goes. |

Flux grenades claim they do that in their description. As in, interfere with electronics. |

True , but so far I haven't seen any evidence of that beyond, possibly, extra damage to shields. Maybe when all of the features are released for this game we'll see some interesting electronic gear that can inhibit a player fully utilizing his equipment, but I've never heard of a game that allows for interfering with actual communication between players. There might be one, I don't know, just not to my knowledge. |
