In the earliest dust videos you don't see prebuild bases players run too and capture, you see people call down their own turrets, vehicles, sensor arrays, and supply depots for their teams to use.
I would like to see this mode come to fruition. this would require a lot of work but the end result could be fantastic
everyone spawns from the MCC like you can now nothing is different, but there is no buildings no structure, no redline protecting either team. the map is vast and open.
when you hit the ground you and your team get to work by spawning everything they need to attack the other team or attack the enemy MCC.
the area around the MCC can have structures called down which can do a multitude of tasks, each building has a militia variant which is obviously the weakest but anyone can call it down. to win you destroy the MCC. no clone reserve BS or have it a high amount. so the match doesn't end too soon.
This game mode will be about teamwork to attack enemy installations while defending your own, with this new buildings will need to be introduced as well as changes to existing buildings.
Turrets- 3 variants from what we have now, small turrets are smaller meant for close range and this time automated ( unlike previous builds) Large are the same they are now, except if no enemy is in range they default fire at the enemy MCC if it is in range. and XL which are very slow to aim and designed to only attack the enemy MCC, these are basically nerfed cannons but can be maned by players XL turrets are either missile or railguns (until artillery and laser turrets come anyway)
Vehicle assembly array this uses resources scavenged from the battlefield to quickly assemble vehicles, anyone can use it players earn salvage based on WP earned in the match ( though this salvage disappears if not used before match end) think of it as metal scraps found throughout the battlefield. does it have to make sense? no this is a game, it's supposed to be fun. What does this building mean? well it can technically allow free vehicles for players, but at the same time doesn't make player owned vehicles obsolete as to get, say, a tank would take a while. you could also only allow the array to build tech 1 or 2 vehicles with only type 1 modules present, this means vehicles build this way will in essence be nerfed compared to a decently fit tank or dropship.
Supply depot same as it is now
Repair/supply depot same as supply depot but has repair drones that repair any person or vehicle nearby, the drone are rebuilt if destroyed but can be killed to stop camping on supply depots.
clone bay Allows you to spawn on the ground
Building Drop Uplink a building that allows you to build buildings elsewhere other than under the MCC, this will allow a foreward or auxiliary base to be build. this also means you can't just drop a bunch of turrets in the enemy base without building this first. think of it as a pylon in starcraft.
Sensor array This gives a sensor range on the battlefield around it. Bonus, turrets will shoot at things the sensor array can see no more easy to avoid turret sensors.
Power plant needed to power XL turrets vehicle arrays and repair/supply depots.
Limitations: obviously there needs to be limits and it is one of the hardest ways to decide, I rather it not be 100% on the commander role as it locks out 99% of the people playing. if possible, 2 buildings per player would nice. with limits on certain buildings maybe? the vehicle array would be limited to 1 at a time per team.
Why: the current dust 514 skirmish doesn't feel as big as it could it feels, well, like a skirmish with pre determined points of interest and conflict. yes it is a beta and yes I am sure there will be bigger and better things soon. with this game mode it puts every player in command and will take teamplay to a new level attacking a base solo would be suicide, but going lone wolf to snipe enemies at said base would still work.
these matches would probably be longer than the current skirmish but that is ok, it would also be bigger, badder, and set Dust 514 apart along with giving it a new game mode that is completely different than the current offerings
for those that have played both titles, this would turn into a healthy mix of starhawk, and |
