So I understand that these are the game's version of "clans" but is there anything in depth? Can the corporations pay their soldiers ISK? Can corporation CEO buy things for their players? Can corporations steal ISK from other corporations?
I tried looking online but nothing really says anything about the mechanics of these corporations. Ideally, I think it should be that the corporations war against each other, gain ISK, use the ISK to help give soldiers better loadouts (some of the stuff seems way too expensive to gain by yourself anyways). It'd be nice if a corporation CEO was like "OK HERE EVERYONE HAVE SOME TANKS AND USE EM IN OUR NEXT FIGHT." These are just suggestions obviously, I'm just wondering if there's anything more to corps than just a clan tag and meeting people. |

Currently what you can do in a corporation is fairly limited. Directors and the CEO can hand out money to the members of the corporation, but any other assets(dropsuits, weapons, modules etc.) are not yet made available. What corporations are now for is to have people to hang out and play with, in more or less serious tone. However, in the future[SoonTM] we will get more features to corporation, such as custom ranks and powers, corporation armories which store all the corporations assets among many other features. |

Ahh ok, that's a little underwhelming, sadly. I was just curious because I see some of the top tier guns are SUPER expensive and I can't see how anyone could steadily afford these. So I figured that being in a very good corp would be a good way to gain massive amounts of ISK. I mean, if I was carrying in corp battles all the time, I'd be like "PAY ME MORE OR I QUIT!" CCP has a very unique thing with this whole purchasing gear stuff. I find it much better than COD's "unlock forever" policy. It would definitely keep the incentive to do corp battles for big rewards. |

Right now they're pretty bare-bones, but I suspect that over time they'll implement the capabilities that EVE corps have, such as corporate hangars with shared assets (restricted by role, of course), taxes, shares (not that anyone really uses those), and corp owned structures. |

Thanks for the answers everyone. I'll probably just keep doing instant battles for the meantime until there's more of an incentive to dust my headset off and get super serious. I feel like I should have a lot of skills maxed too if I wanna play in corp battles |

Noc Tempre is right. As far as I can tell, corporations exist to argue and fight with the Imperfects.
I'm in the same boat as you. I play with a headset for surround sound but I've very little reason to turn the mic on or align myself with anyone else at this stage in the game when experimenting in instant battles seems a better use of beta time. |

Just a comment about your idea that you have to be max skilled to join a corp. That just isn't true.
While D-UNI is special in the facts its only goal is to train new players in the finer points of the game there are many other casual Corps that are essential just a group of people who enjoy playing together casually. For ether of these to cases you needn't be max skilled or even highly skilled as long as you there to have fun and you yourself have more fun working as a team.
Dust as with many FPS games is always more fun when your working together in a team.
Having said that there are corp that take the game more seriously than others and they can be more selective in there recruitment.
My advice would be to join a corp and try playing the game with a group, you can still focus on pub matches and ignore corp battles but the game is so much better when played with friends.

As others have said the corps in Dust currently have limited functionality.
However Dust clones can join eve Online corps and visa versa, but the link between the two games in a single corp is still limited at the moment. It is this that holds the clue as to what lies in the future for the Dust corps. As an eve player (and Dust player) I can tell you that the corps in eve are exceptionally powerful and can do the things that you wish the dust corps could do.
It will not be too long before the link between the two games is much stronger and the boundaries between a Dust corp and an eve corp are a bit more blurred.
There will of coarse still be corps that will play only eve, or only Dust, but there will also be many corps that participate heavily in both games. |

In you guys opinion, is it going to be essential for Dustcorps to integrate with eve members. Or will it be more worth a Dustcorps while to just form an alliance with an eve corp? Or is this even possible? We had an eve guy for a while and he couldn't ever find us. Is the eve integration limited to corporate battles? Or can they hover over the dusties randomly in public matches?
The things mentioned above give me a brighter outlook on founding a corp, rather than joining up with the front-runners. I like the idea of shared assets and corporate structures. I think that a more complex role/ranking system within corporations is needed. Right now I think we're at about 20 members and we have 4 directors and CEO governing democratically (to an extent). As the corp grows I think it needs to increase the number of voting "shareholders" if you will, but all of the governing members shouldnt be given the same title and rank as a founding member or a major contributor. It would be nice if the CEO could delegate different responsibilities to the hierarchy for instance, 3 people could make up the treasury dept.,and 3 others could be in charge of recruiting and applications. These could be titles rather than just director. It would also be nice to appoint officers that would have automatic team leader or squad leader privileges. Titles that pertained to a certain SP level would be cool: Prototype Tank Captain or Advanced Turret Gunner. Prototype Logistics Specialst, Advanced Assault Recon, Prototype Ghost Sniper, Advanced Mobile Repair, etc, etc.
It would also be neat if corporate logos were visible on dropsuits and vehicles and installations |

They're also able to join alliances.
Functionally they're not equal to eve's version of corporations but one day will be. |

That's the problem right there, they really aren't supposed to be clans. This is supposed to be way more in depth than that.
At this point,I don't think there's any real purpose to corporations just yet,but once the market opens up,then we will be all set.
