Heard a lot of complaining of snipers and swarms massacre in militia suits and such. Why not make all the sorts limited to 20 suits of each. Should give new players an idea if they like the fit or not. However, give there starter suit unlimited.
Tjink this will solve a lot of the issues going on. The suits all will run out very quickly and will force folks to buy the suits or drop it and specialize.

My thought (beyond the accurate point Zero makes) is as follows.
Ignore all QQ threads, Those threads which do not provide data (as opposed to emotion/opinion). Some relevant aspects commonly overlooked are Character skills, do they know what skills their opposition have invested in?
- Player skills, are the skills of the player using the gear/character accounted for? Not all players can use all weapons/gear to equal effect, basing balance discussions around the performance of high end players is a flawed method.
- Teamwork, a squad with teamwork will generally prevail over those without (and those with tighter teamwork will tend to win out against those with lessor teamwork).
- Broken mechanics, many weapons are thought/said to be broken when in fact it is damage mods that are broken thus making the performance dps of any weapon run with stacked mods broken (but not the weapons themselves).
- Fittings, the full fitting run impacts how all mechanical aspects of that Merc, if they aren't talking about the fittings run (friendly and opposing) key information is lacking.
There are more but this should give the idea, without detailed context and an actual testing methodology what you're getting from most of the threads are abstract impressions that are frequently highly biased and by their very nature lacking aspects relevant to the subject.
Cheers, Cross
EDIT: Anyone who's able to dominate with Militia gear once this build matures(give is at least six more weeks) has a high level of player skill and thus are not proper baselines for balance conversations. These players will not be hurt by the loss of militia gear, it's the new players, the players still attempting to skills up and learn the game that will be hurt by the loss of militia gear. Making changes to game mechanics which put an increased burden on new players is 180 degrees the wrong direction for Development if D514 is to maintain longevity. Players who have not been through several builds (i.e. those who weren't around for a stretch of Closed Beta have not seen the macro balance of the game mature, one key example of this is all of the "HMGs are OP'ed" threads. The situation which causes that perception will not persist as the average SP total in the game matures, this is true of various other aspects as well. |

Thoughts? What if some one ran completely out of money? In EVE you get a rookie ship any time you dock at a station where you don't have any ships available. Maybe something like that?
Wait, are we talking about starter suits, or militia suits? Two very different issues. |

I think most people complaining about Militia suits should change the way they allocate their SP and train some core skills. Also not standing still and learning how to dodge swarm stuff while driving works wonders. Most of the time I see noobs in standard suits running towards me in a straight line begging me to kill them with a properly trained militia suit + rifle. If they would have taken the time to learn some core skills (lvl 5 armor, lvl 5 shield, lvl 5 pg, lvl 5 CPU skills) they could so more in a militia suit than what they're wearing now.
The same with people in noob LAV's thinking they're the bomb while having problems trying to drive straight getting killed by one Forge gun shot, or one swarm launcher shot. People need to learn skills, fits and tactics matter. Shouting for nerfs while noobing it up in gear with skills that don't support it, is just admitting you lack creativity you deal with the situation at this point. |
