It would be cool if something like the market was physical place and we could walk around and perhaps come under attack with little warning, ect.
How do you see the mmo part playing out? |

Well, I assume you're not an EVE Online player. :)
The idea sounds cool for an average MMO - the ones most people are used to - however I'd say it seems unlikely for the EVE/DUST universe. Skipping all the technical mumbo-jumbo of why it would be impossible, let's just say that the market has an important (pretty much like real life market/stock exchange) functionality in this game universe, and this pretty much requires the comfort and safety of a station to browse and snipe and wait and invest freely without the need of walk around checking vending stalls :)
It would kind of make no sense as well, but that's another subject.
Now, to answer your question: what you can expect from a 'mmo' side of DUST is not a common MMO playstyle of levelling and walking around but the dynamics of a real and persistent universe. You won't be fighting battles just for the sake of it: in theory every battle will have a place and significance on the eve universe and this will change and evolve for years to come. As EVE, DUST is far, far away from a finished game. The game will constantly evolve and grow, get new content and upgrades for as many years as people play it. So, well, expect to see massive universal warfare, real wars happening between corporations full of resources and production lines and all that, with massive space battles and.... now ground battles - in which we all will be able to take part if we invest our times on this promising game. So yeah - it's a shooter - but every battle has a real meaning behind it. |

CCP originally thought of this idea for Eve Online's Incarna Expansion but the idea later got delayed and ultimately got placed on the backlog of things to do later in the future after the Jita Riots erupted back in 2011. Many capsuleers have wanted to get out of their pods, roam in the station and then shoot someone in the face for looking at them wrong or trying to scam them. There were also talks of wanting to introduce a system in which players would roam around in station smuggling contraband. But again, that idea got sent to the backlog for the same reasons. |
