Doesn't seem to be working. Heavy snuck up on me with a Forge Gun at less than a hundred meters in a city block. Considering it has a scan precision of 45, the only way he could have been able to go beneath the scanner was to have Dropsuit Command 5 and Scan Dampening 3, which I somehow doubt.
That and evidence that the handheld Active Scanner wasn't working leads me to conclude that this one isn't working either.
Anyone else have any experience with these? |

They still have those? I thought CCP took them off the market because they weren't working. |

Took the infantry modules off, vehicle ones are still on there. |

They work. The basic has an 80m detection radius when activated. What you might have got forge gunned by was someone not specifically into heavies that has Dropsuit Command and Scan Dampening high, and used a militia heavy suit and forge gun. Or, they might have just been outside its scan radius. |

Using a profile dampener on the suit isn't out of the question either, though it doesn't seem super probable. |

Right, I thought about that - but he would have to have 5/3 on either of those skills (improbable) or using a scan dampener (even more improbable).
I've been giving it a few more shots and have been intentionally putting the Dropship in harms way (flying low and DANGER CLOSE to enemy units) trying out the module and even though I can clearly see four/five enemy troops not a single one shows up on the minimap (I.e: their chevron appears)
I mean, when I say Danger Close I mean a guy ran up on the Dropship with a shotgun and was actually trying to take it out. |

Good testing. I may go try some myself to see what the story is. They work in LAVs grand. It might be while using them in dropships that they're broken. As far as I know they're working in HAVs too.
And I wouldn't discount the chance of someone having Dropsuit Command and Scan Dampening at those levels. A well spece'd scout at this stage should have them, and if they have any sense they would have a Militia forgegun fitting for the few times they're near a supply depot etc., and a enemy vehicle is close. |

Are you activating the scanner? I don't mean to give offense by the question, I just want to eliminate possibilities. |

Yeah, love the little blue radar effect it's got lol. Just sort of flashes and confounds my pub gunners. |

I've only used it a few times when using a heavy and driving the LAV so I must have been lucky the first few times that a team member had over watch as I was driving around. It didn't work for me at all yesterday. Sitting in my LAV with the scanner active, tango 3m in front of me runs around the corner, and puff, he was gone off the radar. Another few spots in the mountains were hit or miss. It's hard to tell if some one was giving over watch or the scanner was kind of working. Either way it's not doing what it's suppose to be doing |
