Currenlty, I'm not looking for a corp. I'm still new. I'm still figuring out what I want and how to get it. I'm content running alone at this point. But I do drop into the Corp Recruitment section every so often to see what's available and keep an open mind for when I do want to play more seriously and hop into a corp. And I've noticed there's a lot of corps recruting with the exact same sales pitches. Almost as numerous are the individuals who post that they're looking for a corp and list their specific interests and skills.
So I come to you, my fellow dustbunnies, to seek input on a proposal. Do we need external recruting? Are there already external recruiters I didn't see? What I'm proposing, is that someone (obviously I have an interest in doing this) browses the corp recruitment section and keep tabs on the various corps that are recruting and the individuals posting their "Dust Resumes". This person would then contact recrutiers from the corps and individuals seeking corps and attempt to match them up with what they're looking for. Perhaps if it's successful, then the external recruiters might be able to receive requests directly from individuals or corps so that the ex-r could keep their eyes open.
I am suggesting a Dust Staffing Corporation, essentially. I might even begin one as early as tonight, if the feedback appears to favor the idea. So does this sound plausible? Is it just unnecessary? Is it a blatant money-making scheme (not that I would charge ISK for the service, not right now anyway since it's a random idea and could easily have no merit)? What are your thoughts? |

Excellent idea, and you can also provide replacements for corp matches as a ringer matchmaking service :) |

I don't think a corp could survive on external recruitment services alone. You'd need to come up with another service that you can offer to pay the bills. |

While very true, this wouldn't so much be a corporation as an independent project. I didn't actually mean to imply I'd be beginning a corporation whose sole purpose was to staff others. I meant "staffing corporation" as a description of what the project would be, relating it to real-world staffing corporations or temp agencies. And given the time it would take to make all the necessary introductions and gather demographic information from existing, recruiting corps, this service would very like be pro bono for the foreseeable future as the operational hiccups would be substantial. |

Heck, there are already folks creating maxed out Corporations for people who couldnt otherwise @ a fee, why not something MUCH more helpful? Good idea, at least to suppliment the current recruiting means.. |

You know, now that I think about it, this is not a bad idea at all.
Every corporation have a different feel, a different style. The things that make a corporation special are the things that are hard to convey through a simple text sales pitch.
I think the most important part of a corporation is chemistry. More than just being the "top corp," actually getting along with your fellow corp mates means the difference between having fun or working.
And I think a lot of new players will just jump into any corporation that will take them and never leave, regardless of how well it "fits" them.
But to pull this off, you and whatever team you could recruit, would have to get to know all the different corps out there. You would have to play with their core players. You would have to leave all bias at the door. And you would have to play with all the potentials that ask for your help.
But this would actually be a very valuable service. I'd be willing to pay for it. In isk. |

well its true that every corp recruitment has the same sales pitch, heck even i do that all the time when recruiting new players. but then again you gota remember there are a lot of corps recruiting so sooner or later its all going to be the same posts over and over. you either get a recruitment post thats a few sentences long with a link to the recruitment page or you get the guys who type a long paragraph explaining everything to you about their corp.
the main thing is how the corp makes you feel, say now you join a really good and popular corp but that corp makes you feel unwanted or you don't fit in there's no point in staying in that corp, each corp has its own set of rules and how they treat their members.
so try joining each corp and see what suits you, you won't know unless you try them out. heck my best friend also joined out corp and he seemed pretty content with what we after he tried out different corps.
so play a game or two with their members and see how each corp's teamwork tactics etc etc works out. |
