Just a thought. What if Scout/Sniper suits didn't come with equipment slots until a certain level? Hell, the Heavies don't get one at all, ever. This would do a couple of things.
First, they wouldn't be able to sit in one spot for an entire match with a nearly endless supply of ammo. They would have to visit a supply depot. Second, it would encourage team work, as their only other option would be to get field support from a teammate.
Give them a little more ammo or something, but not 2-3 nanohives to themselves to go 20+/0 on KDR & never be in any real danger. I was just in a Skirmish match, and whenever I found myself in the area of the MCC, the same sniper was just sitting there with 2 active nanohives, in the same spot, just firing away without a care in the world. For the whole match. Really?!
I know any suit can use a sniper rifle, and all but Heavies have equipment slots. There's just gotta be a way to address this issue that makes sense.
I know I'm gonna get grief for this. But I think it's something to consider & worth discussion. |

I think the issue would be better addressed by changing where the red line is rather than the scout suits themselves...... |

you should get zero sp gain for being in the red zone end of disscussion.
As for snipers in the mountians, whats wrong what that? why do you think they put those there in the 1st place. As long as I can run up in my dropship or shotgun scout it's balanced.
Also logi's and assualts make great snipers |

How so? people sniping in the redzone can't be touched, people sniping in locations on the battle field can be reached and killed.
People start catching on people are going to say dropships are OP becuase they can kill snipers with ease |

But yeah don't associate the sniper since it can be equipped by any suit.
EDIT: Damn, wasn't the first to say that. |

the point of a sniper is to be a self suffient one man unit, i play the sniper but not nearly as much as assult (don't let the name fool you, i thought i would be Rane909, and my sub character would be this). assult is based purely on team work to succeed where as snipers should be hidden, having to track back and forth costantly to a team mate / supply depot isn't exactly stelthy, or smart, leaving you open to be tracked back to wherever you are. i don't expect you to understand the tactics of sniping if you're not proficient in it, but to be honest, its the difference of team player / lone wolf. |

You're trying to cure the symptom, not the disease. Removing equipment slots from scout suits wouldn't serve any purpose, other than to make their lives(and mine) a lot harder. What we should focus on is making people not go behind the redline and snipe there, but instead contribute to the team. |

interesting argument.
too bad scout snipers are rare. probably has something to do with the fact the logi suit is better suited at everything the scout suit does. |

Interestingly enough, that was the argument a while back when the Scout suit got it's strafe speed nerfed out the ass. "If you want to do frontline go assault, Scout suit should not be used for frontline it should be just what it says it is - a Scout."
i am glad that people are starting to realize that any suit can snipe though =P Hopefully the Scout will return to it's gloriousness one day. |

And bluntly if you reduced scouts to 1 armor and 1 shield it just means they die after one shot instead of one and a half. Bluntly anyone who wants scouts nerfed isnt paying attention.
Here is a hint kids. most snipers use assault suits or logi. when I see a scout sniping I grab a militia sniper rifle, shoot him in the chest and collect 50 WP for a trivially easy shot. |

I've seen more heavy snipers than scout snipers. A nerf to the scout suit would get rid of the last few player who use it to snipe because it feels right. It would also mean the funny people who try to run up to you with shotguns stop using their "feeding suit."
I'm still confused about why the red line is such an issue. I've seen teams lose because they have too many snipers. Behind the red line means you're useless in capturing. The spots they snipe from are always obvious so you can easily counter snipe them. Also, it doesn't say when you're behind your team's red line so it's not really your option of "being a good sport" and going past the red line. |

People get weird about their KDR. and like EVE people are risk-averse. Rather like EVE this game rewards aggression.
But a lot of people spend all their ISK on a handful of shiny dropsuits then lose them and the ISK they spent to a redline and have to finish in a damn freebie suit.
Me, I think I have well over 300 dropsuits fitted and ready for killing. most of them cost at a minimum 40k per death.
Plus I like to lose a soma for fun every so often. thats another 250,000 ISK down the hole because tanks are fun. |

dude, it's Imperfects - they're like Goonswarm in Dust, you should come to expect the occasional primitive grunt here and there.
But in all honesty, the Scout suit was made this way simply because people bitched about it moving too fast; which was it's only natural defense against... Well, anything.
Now it's just got a low Scan Profile, which doesn't mean jack if you're a sniper because your suit is always going to have that ridiculously reflective gleam to it. I mean, technically you "can" use it to Black Ops an objective every so often but considering that they flash when they're being hacked it's sort of useless once you actually get there. |
