This is a possible outcome in future updates. If you notice on the loading screen that shows all of the in battle map icons there's Light, Medium, and Heavy vehicles icons for both dropships and groundside vehicles. |

Pretty much this, though it is possible CCP wants the dropship to be the primary infantry insertion vehicle. But for that to happen the dropship controls need a bit of simplification or they will never see wide use. |

controls seem fine IMO. They're different, challenging, unique but not really that bad once you get used to it. Their armor/shields however...
I actually really like the way they control, just curious how many have you flown? |

A dropship-like platform for ground usage has its uses - and the "MAV" will definitely fit in with this. I suspect it will have more tank than a dropship, and enough speed to out-run a HAV railgun's tracking.
Ideally though, I would have designed two vehicles for each size class - one for personnel, one for combat. Examples:
LAV - transport: current LAV "warthog" design. Fastest ground vehicle, but not much protection. LAV - combat: mobile two-man Small turret, with better gunner protection and a pinch more tank.
MAV - transport: suggested role of prior posts. Ideally used to cover a squad while assaulting an objective. MAV - combat: MTAC - confirmed incoming, maybe this will be our first Medium-size ground vehicle?
HAV - transport: full APC - two swiveling Small turrets, 8 to 12-clone capacity. HAV - combat: existing tank design. |

The T2 LAVs already do this. |

This would really increase the variety of vehicles in this game. I approve! |
