If they are, then how are they able to get out of their pods and into their quarters that i've seen in videos? I thought Capsuleers are almost like the human-cylon hybrids that control the basestars in their gooey pods but unable to get out of them. This is confusing but im trying my best XD |

I believe they transfer their consciousness to a clone already on board the station.
Alternatively, in EvE literature, at least two capsuleers have been noted to leave their pod on foot. One of them is the guy in charge of the Ishokune corporation while another one was a prominent flyer in Mordu's Legion. Apparently, exiting the pod can be relatively unpleasant; the Ishokune CEO was noted as having to vomit up the pod slime upon exiting. |

Since capsuleers get the shiny awesome clones, they also get to jump out of the pods when they want. Supposedly its a messy process.
Ionno, its kinda cool seeing my eve toons walkin around, but after about a week i went back to station spinning. Cuz lets be honest here, station spinning is about 95% of the gameplay in eve. |

Capsuleers are uumans with tech similsr to ours but less advanced.
Their pods act like the chips stuck in our heads. So if your in the pod your thoughts and junk get transferred over to new clones. But if you get all deadified while not in it well your dead end of story.
The pods can let you out but its hella messy think the matrix scene when neo wakes up in the goo pod. |

Its been thoerized they have a slow update done when they exit pods to killing one would only make him forget since he last left the pod. |

They can leave pods, there is short story on this site where balac(user of the ar we get in salvage) shots one in a bar.
The ishkone ceo was asked where his clones were before he died, he died since they were at the station he was one being destroyed, suggesting he would have lived if clones hadn't been there. He just would have forgot everything since last update to clone.
To kill a capsuler, you most kill everyone of his clones, in pod or not. Killing out of pod or without updated clones of sufficient grade has nasty side affects, but not lethal.
The broker also killed his clone by jumping into molten metal without memory lose, but it suggested he was jovian, so it may have been implant more like ours then standard capsulear.
Yes, the pod can fly around and has warp capability. |

12,000 isk retires a family btw. That's how high tech your drop-suit is...
Also crew of capsuleered ships do have the best insurance, their deaths usually help their family out of the worst of debts and set something up nice for them at least, unfourutnate they have the second shortest lifespan of any job in new eden right after the non capsuleer crewed ship. |

Not quite. You got that number form the amount of NPC kills per day in new Eden, however if you read all the prime fiction, you will find there are several examples (one being some canon of an alliance tournement being RPed) where the crews of Pod-Capsuleer (PC) and Non-Pod Capsuleer (NPC) ships do get out alive in escape pods (not like capsuleer pods they are very basic) and the likes of the Sisters of New Eden going in and rescuing many of them. Many do die, but most survive. |

The pod is the interface with which capsuleers interact with their ships. If you read the chronicle Jita 4-4, the cloning apparatus is attached to the person's body, allowing consciousness transfer anywhere. When the pod is cracked, it sends a signal to the transfer device, and kills the pilot to avoid a long and painful death.
All in all, the consciousness transfer used by capsuleers is very advanced, and is designed to be as perfect as possible. For us bunnies, it isn't quite as advanced, as it is salvaged from the capsuleers, but was instead designed to be mass produced. |

If we take that to be true, killing a bunny when there was no MCC in transfer range, they would die permanently. |

You are 100% wrong.
If you would read the EVE novels including latest one that introduced DUST merc tech. We have sleeper technology that is very advanced. Before capsuleers were the only ones that could have conciousness transferred because the apparatus was large and had to be in perfect placement to do a scan. This enabled only capsuleers in pods to ahve this. Once New Eden unlocked the tech to have it implanted IN the brain did that allow DUST mercs this same capability. |

Ehm, 12,000 ISK is that little?
Damn there's been some serious inflation cause from a few years ago 10,000 (the cost of putting a capsuleer through training and modifications) was how much the average 'billionaire' planet-side would own. But yes, that sum of money would retire a family.
Note that large (in planet-side currency) compensation is paid to families of crews, and it's so little in ISK that we don't even bother tracking it. |

There is a distrubing trend appearing though it seems capsuleers are beginning to use implants with sleeper tech in them as well. While not like our implants which transfer our consciousnesses, theirs allows them to control tech 3 ships which is diverged from sleeper designed technology |

Hi guys! I'm one of the dudes who's worked on the EVE Lore before, though not the great degree that many others within CCP have, so allow me to clear up a few misconceptions and whatnot.
1) Capsuleers can get out of their pods and without cloning. They use what's called a pod gantry which extracts them. They plug in to their capsules via neural rigs along their spine. 2) Capsuleers and DUST mercs use fairly different technology. Capsules were developed by the Jove and cloning was added in later by the other races. The cloning tech that capsuleers use is bulky and restrictive, hence their need to be in the pod to use it. DUST soldiers have small implants in their brains which can transmit consciousness easier. DUST implants are derived from the Sleepers, a race which was once part of the Jove but broke off thousands of years ago. 3) The value of the ISK has never been firmly pinned down, but a rough guideline some of us have used is that a shuttle craft in EVE is roughly the amount of money a upper-middle class family of four spends in one year. Again, this is a rough estimate and isn't exact, as many different factors come into play. 4) Escape pods exist and not everyone on a ship dies when the ship explodes, though casualty numbers are still fairly large. The amount of money you can earn serving on board a capsuleer ship can be well worth the risk, however. 5) We've never pinned down the population numbers of New Eden, but they're pretty high. |

that said there were some ways around this. The Broker used backups(or a second clone I forget now) to allow him to do things like talk to some one in person and then jump into a vat of molten metal to erase that he had anything to do with the situation, and yet still continue on. The side effect of this was that he had no memory of these events actually happening(DEV correct me if I am wrong about that last part)
now the crazy thing about Vitoc a drug/virus used to ensure the the subservience of minmatar slaves to the aamar is that It followed the broker through his clones and killed him permanently despite his frequent clone jumping(maybe, kinda, I got the feeling we haven't heard the last of him)
If you are at all interested in the lore or Sci-fi I strongly recommend reading The Empyrean Age, and Templar One. Templar one is the lead in to dust but you miss a lot with out reading The Empyrean Age first. |

which is why I think its funny that the female models are designed around a grade school idea of the perfect female form. That said the only dust clones whos appearance was mentioned in eve lore that I know of were early proto types so maybe Mordu learn to make them sexy extra spines and all.

2) for those of u who have seen the tv show Dollhouse think of the wireless mind implanting without most of the freedom of being implanted in anyones head. According to new eden the tech can only transfer u to an identical brain due to well lets go with size issues. |

DUST implants are derived from the Sleepers, a race which was once part of the Jove but broke off thousands of years ago. Though great explanations ill try to give a frame of tv refrence to this. 1) I like to think of matrix's machine civilizations pods used in the human battery. Though mabey without the goo. 2) for those of u who have seen the tv show Dollhouse think of the wireless mind implanting without most of the freedom of being implanted in anyones head. According to new eden the tech can only transfer u to an identical brain due to well lets go with size issues.
1. There is goo, called ectoplasm, illegal to have in cargo holds in all four empires.
2. A similar movie being serrogates. |

whats that you say there are only four lobes in the cerebral cortex??
you sir know your anatomy. Just not your dust clones anatomy, dust clones cant really be called human by any stretch of the imagination they have a whole load of weird things like additional spins and organs. They are apparently down right hideous.
which is why I think its funny that the female models are designed around a grade school idea of the perfect female form. That said the only dust clones whos appearance was mentioned in eve lore that I know of were early proto types so maybe Mordu learn to make them sexy extra spines and all.
tho those combat heals are still a bit much. We're humans evolved by 50k years and genetic tweaking.
Maybe I am wrong on this, but I thought the body you use in the Mercenary quarters was your own body, or a high quality clone of your real body, but the clones you use in combat were mass produced, purpose built, generic clone bodies. I would assume it would be the battle clones that have the reinforced spine and redundant organs. I also assume that there are female clones because female mercenaries found it disconcerting using male clones. I am referring more to body type here. I am not sure if battle clones of either gender actually come equipped with sex organs. |

Both capsuleers and mercenaries original bodies where euthanized. Capsuleers is done though the initiation system. For mercenaries its by choice, usually a gun on the table with the note to shoot one self.
Currently they haven't made high quality clones for us yet, just recently they finished designing female bodies. Female personalities before had to use the generic male bodies. All the ones on the field are rather copy paste generic. The bodies are heavily augmented with nanites, reinforced skeleton and improved organs, overall a designer human built with the use of a machine. As for those extra organs they're probably still there just not traditionally functional outside waste disposal.
