certainly possible. LAVs and HAVs can also fit remote armor repairers and shield transporters. They all have their upsides and downsides though. |

Yes it can but you basically need to sit on top of the tank to pull that off. Simply cause the range on that module is very limited. And thats allready a nice way to put it. |

Mortal Maximus wrote:Can dropships do that yet?, cuz i see it in the trailer but i'm curious to know if its true Yeah I used to do that back in an earlier build. But it makes the dropship very vulnerable and with tanks out on the field you can expect AV to already be present. |

If the tank has been damaged enough to need help then the battlefield is probably a dangerous place for a less protected vehicle that is also more visible. A logi on the ground can be overlooked, but a dropship hovering over a tank is a juicy target |

I could only see it make sense where the dropship has already dropped in anti-AV infantry to clear out threats. Otherwise, yeah its more of a liability. I have been driving around a logi-baloch that has the equivalent of an extra heavy rep for our expensive HAVs. |

I did it once back in Codex
Crashed right after trying to keep the lock
The lock needs some work IMO because following a tank and dipping your nose is kind of hard to control whilst keeping lock. Better on an LAV. |

Its probably the only viable role for drop-ships these days with their instant crashing. |

If CCP would just stop coating my ship with explosive paint things wouldn't be so bad. |

Healing tanks with a dropship often leads to an upside down dropship though. |

It's possible. It is a vehicle module after all. But I lolled when I saw the trailer. If only it worked that easily. |

I did it for a bit but THERE'S NO GOD DAMN COOL LIGHTNING-LASER BOLTS , AS SHOWN IN THE TRAILER!! inb4 SOONGäó
But yeah, it's difficult to do, let's be honest. You've got swarms, forges, turrets; all trying to kill that tank on the field. And then what happens? They see you fly in, in a dropship and all of a sudden that tanks shield's going back up. Suddenly, you've got a barrage of swarms and angry forge gunners hurling everything they got at you to make you drop like a sack of potatoes. fiery, metal potatoes.
Not to mention you have to be right above the tank, which not only gives away the tanks position to other red dots because you're practically sitting above him with a neon sign that reads "TANK HERE" . And, if you're really stupid, you won't get away in time to save your dropship while you're being shot down, and you'll crash on top of the bloody tank, killing both of you in the process.
So until they fix the range, I won't be using one much on my dropship. LAV's, yeah, it's handy sometimes, provided you're not directly behind a tank and when he needs to back out of there, you're just sitting with a big derpy smile trying to rep him when he reverses straight into you .. gold star to the person who figures out what happens next. |
