This is by far my favorite map, both for ambush and skirmish. This is the only map, where snipers have such field control that they can really affect the outcome of the fight and that counter-sniping might be a must have. This applies to both ambush and skirmish.
Good job! The only thing I'd look into is the redline of southern mountaintop near the MCC. Possibly a direct pathway from B to there, so that the sniping positions can be harassed while the MCC spawn stays safe. |

I personally think smart snipers can do well on all maps, but I like this one for the tactics that the placement of everything brings in.
C is insanely important to hold (due to position and installations), and there are many ways to attack and defend it. |

I can see why you say that . I've been trying to record the win/loss on this map as it is so badly imbalanced. But I wanted to make sure I could back up my impressions with data. IMO snipers are the broken issue with this map so I have been recording their locations and behavior. It so happens in 54 of my recorded games on this map, in 14 you have been on my team (Period spanning feb 02nd to march 8th). In every single one of those 14 we were on A side. In every single one you stayed in the red zone on that tall building at spawn with a Thale and red zone sniped for the entire match.
While this is enjoyable game play for you and other snipers of similar bent, it is an obviously broken mechanic. Balance requires counters. Heavies can be countered with range, lazers by getting close, shotguns by backing away and so on. But snipers in red zones have no balanced counter only a class counter - other snipers or a skill counter - rails.
On this horrid, horrid map snipers can hide in their redzone, immune to balanced counters and hit almost the entire map. Snipers should be a strategic class, positioning cleverly to cover objectives, balancing the risk of their position against the reward from team assisting kills. In Manus they can sit bravely at the very back with close to zero risk and cover way to many points.
This map is way to open and need much more cover. Every single player i know quits this map as soon as they spawn in. It's not that snipers are not valid but that this map is a fish in a barrel bowl for them and removes any positioning skill for them. Pick any spot, shoot anyone on the map.
Worst map ever. |
