Hello everyone, I am new to "Dust 514" and just started playing as a "Sentinel". As some of you might know, it is equipped with a forge gun and is fairly hard to use when it comes to close personal combat so I equipped the sub machine gun, swapping it with the pistol... The problem is that the sub machine gun is terrible when it comes to ranged combat and I just wanted to know if it is possible to have an assault rife along with my forge gun? I have tried to equip the two but it will not allow me. Is there anything I can do, something I'm missing or is it just not possible?
Your replies will be much appreciated.
Thank you. |

I think the slots should be unlocked and balanced by various fitting restraints. A heavy with a forge + AR would be compromising their fit in some other way so in theory it should be balanced.
To answer your question for right now though... use the assault forge gun and learn to hit infantry with it. |

it is impossible to have a AR and a FG at the same time. if you are playing heavy forge gun then your targets are vehicles not infantry at long range, if there are not vehicles then switch to an assault class with AR |

I have that fit, too. I just used the assault fit until a tank or other vehicle needed taken out. |

In old builds, the starter heavy had a swarm instead. Not even a heavy weapon, and can't fire at infantry at all. So, forge is better then nothing. Train hmg to get an anti-infantry weapon for the heavy suit, or you could put ar in slot forge uses. I think assault makes better use of ar, but some use a heavy ar fit. Use what works best for you. |

Use a breach SMG and train sidearms sharpshooting. You get better range that way. Hug terrain and force your attackers to come to you. |

This game is not meant (IMO) to be played with one fit. You are going to have multiple fits. If you only want to play heavy, then have your heavy anti-vehicle (Forge) or your Heavy anti-personel (Heavy Machine Gun). You are in a world of hurt if you only want to use a forge gun the entire time you play. |

first, when you "force" someone to come to you, why do you need the increased range of a breach anyway?
and second, the breach SMG is the worst weapon you could ever take. it might have higher range over the regular SMG but it deals ~30% less DPS compared to the regular SMG and ~40% less than the militia AR. the accuracy is still SMG like, aka bad outside approximately 15 meters even with ADS. you will lose any damage trade with the breach SMG. |
