I have done a bit of searching and couldn't find a dedicated thread.
I as a newly trained dropship pilot have encountered a few problems:
1. Lack of options
I know this is still beta but with the millions of options for drop-suits I found myself under-fased by the amount of options. My main problem was it uses the same things as a tank. I mean come on, surely they would be different (obviously the shield/armour ones are fine) but how about accelaration increasers, max hight boosters or even the options of more turrets (might need some thought on that one).
2. Lack of points
As many of you know a solo dropship run 'aint gonna do nuttin' and that is a problem, I am not in a corp and I can see how that would be highly beneficial but if the blueberries that get in the turret seats are terrible it is a waste of a gunship. You could help this with giving you point when each different member got in (but you can only get the points again when they die o'r something to stop spaming) or mabye make the turrets automatic when not ocupied, but with terrible aim.
3. Lack of commands
Many a time I have seen that point D is un-occupied so I get a few people in the ship and head over there but by the time I have got there everyone is out already! You could use R1 for a commond wheel as the driver so that you can communicate to the people in the ship. This could include commands like wait, drop, get in the turrets..stuff like that.
4. Lack of training
The last problem is that in real warfare you don't have your first flight on a battlefield, so a VR room o'r something of that ilk would be helpfull..
Oh yeah and a indicator of if the bay doors are open or not would be good, might be missing something.. |

I am a seasoned pilot here in Dust, right now dropships have been nerfed pretty bad but they can still be useful. The dropship pilot command wheel sounds like a great idea. Thanks for bringing it up.
Notice that we actually have an overdrive available that changes the handling of dropships significantly, and there's the mobile CRU too. However you're right, the DS's role right now is very limited. We're lacking logistics options, which are likely to be looked at in the future. |

1. Already Exist: Afterburners exist and they are crazy. There are also Remote Repairers and Shield Transporters
2. Well Known. Best thing to do is just kill with gunners and deliver troops commission free. Known Problem.
3. Already Exists. Hold R2, then click R3 and you'll get the command wheel. Includes "defend" "attack" "capture" "rally"
4. I go against this because that just allows anyone to become a pilot risk free. You guys are honestly going to have to bear through the ISK drain as all of us already did. If you can't persevere through the cost, then you're not a pilot sorry. That's just my view.

Here are a few helpful channels.
Condor Squad = A pilot labor union, an organization of pilots to protect our general interests. Also train the newbs and do business with corporations
DropU = Channel meant for organizing training runs
