It would be nice if say you end up getting into a game and instead of waiting to figure out whether your teammates are going to be of any help or not. You call in your tank right away because worst case scenario you could have it picked up if you realize this particular game it would just be burning your ISK with no benefit.
I understand that there would most definitely have to be a decent amount of time needed to wait for the ship to come and whisk it away to safety to cut down on tanks just disappearing in the middle of battle nice and safely.
But for example, I call in a tank and start pushing the objectives only to realize all the smurfs on my team are hiding in the red-light district with sniper rifles and i'm just headed into an entire legion by my lonesome without even so much as a blaster turret being manned.
What do you do?
You back up far behind into the red-light district behind a nice cozy hilltop, and call in your local tow truck, which mind you never shows up in a timely manor, to haul the overpriced motor scooter back to the garage for a tune up while you continue on foot. Possibly even decide to call another tank down but this time a much MUCH cheaper variant that you do not care about throwing to the wolves quite as much (If there is such a tank.)

I get what you are saying and the situation you use as an example is a good one. Though if put in I can see it being abused to some extent by a tank driver with an expensive tank almost destroyed drives away lets that tank get picked up then spawns a brand new tank. So pretty much he will have the best tanks on the field with a lot less risk then before. Like in EVE if you can't afford the lose, don't use it.
My suggestion for what you have said is don't call for your expensive tank in first then call the cheaper one. People tend to rally behind a tank more so maybe you'll get more people to join the assault with you tank.
Also I do know you can switch load outs in dropsuit at the supply depot and get for armor and such. i get why they have full hp but that irritates me as well. |

I guess one way would be to have it set up so that if you got in a wreck and had to call the tow truck in, you are restricted from calling in that type of vehicle in the current match again. |

This feature is needed for dropships but for tanks it might be a bit over powered unless they implement it cleverly. |

This could get abused way too much - one of the aspects I like about this game is the decision on whether something will be profitable in the long run and the risk you make when you do it. Vehicles are a major part of this factor. Cause if the vehicle gets destroyed then more than likely you're not going to make enough ISK to get it back. So you must choose wisely in combat what you're going to do and live with that decision. |
