I would like to see a vehicle seat lock so that you could lock your seats to prevent the wrong people getting into your vehicle. This could be turned on and off in the needed situation. It would not prevent exiting only entering. I would think it would have to on non-militia vehicles to prevent confusing new players. Just a thought. |

I would say at least that only someone from your squad that called in the vehicle can drive it.

This would save a lot of tanks from being stolen by dumbass teammates that jump in your tank the second they get the chance and getting it destroyed. I agree completely with this |

We have heard nothing back as yet. Not implying I am a vet that has conversations with Devs. Well I do, they are just one sided. And loud sometimes as well.
I would love to see my seat be safe so I can jump out and hack the objective the Blues are standing Right Next To. Right now the objective goes unhacked because we don't want a New Berry or some Random Blue in the seat. I like Gunning but jumping out to do their job is irritating. If no one is around I will jump and do it. Otherwise I usually hear to stay put. Which I do. |

Now if you die the code is void and your vehicle is up for grabs. |

I have seen blueberrys run acroos the map to get my HAV then jump out as soon as they realise there is a driver and they cant use it. Very annoying when you know if you were out of it repping it or hacking somthing they would steal it without a second thought.
We need vehicle locks ASAP.
However not all blueberrys are the same and have had some get in the driver seat and get straight out again when they realised what they were doing.

I am completely against locks of any kind.
I do on occasion drive a tank so before you whine that I'm just being a jerk that hates your tank i know (not really i avoid calling it in anywhere it could get stolen) your pain.
Tanks are something that if your calling it in you have to be dedicated to using it. calling it in then jumping out at any point is on you not the ruthless evil newberry that stole your tank.
If you get out of your Porsche in the middle of a crime laden neighborhood and walk away its gonna get stolen. Getting out of your shiny million isk DEATHMACHINE in the middle of a battlefield someones gonna think your insane and steal it.
If you call it in don't get out problem solved. If you call it in and then get murdered still on you should have hidden better.
The reason people can steal your tank is that calling in a tank is much more than just calling in a vehicle your calling in something that if skilled into properly and well built is basically unstoppable. You arent supposed to be able to do everything by yourself in dust.
Letting a tanker hop out do stuff and get back in to his tank with no worry of losing it is silly. we are all super mercs with at least a bit of training in tanks/lavs/dropships/whatever else is coming.
so if you jump out die or otherwise don't immediately get into your death machine that is on you not the opportunistic newberry who just landed himself an awesome death machine.
I would like to state that i myself will not steal a tank. i will gun for you and protect it for you the best i can if you decide to jump out but i will not drive away with it if you die except to find a nice hole to hide in near a spawn.
Dust is a game of choice and risk (literally its going to be like risk in space with fancy future guns)
if you choose to get out and risk someone stealing it, this is your CHOICE locking tanks would in my opinion diminish game play and the immersion into the cut throat world of New Eden where you don't know who you can trust and anyone could be plotting your downfall.

Were not talking about completely abandoning our tanks. We get out for a few seconds to repair and next thing you know your tank has a mind of its own. It out of sight getting destroyed by someone who can not drive. At the end of the day, even if they just made it so you need the skill to get in the drivers seat, like in EVE, I would be good .We would not need locks if people were grown and respectful about others items in a game. Hell just read about my story here: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=57997&find=unread. This needs to stop asap. |

I agree with a pilot lock on a vehicle, at least until death or hacked by opposing team. Perhaps even allow same team hacks.
I don't agree with locking seats however. Drivers sure, but not the rest of them. If you spawn a vehicle in Pub then you take your chances, and for sure more vehicle pilots should stop and let someone on instead of just driving off and circling the battlefield solo trying to run enemies over.
You don't get an achievement for this, (yet), and regardless, solo circling is almost as bad as, or worse than redline sniping. You're not helping your team. Pick someone up and run them out to deploy at a hack objective or do something useful at least. I see far too many vehicles running around doing almost nothing.
4-5 in one match, while the other 11 guys are split between two--probably useful--snipers, and 9 Assault/Heavy/Logi roles. Needless to say, we couldn't hold any objectives and got destroyed with at least one squad of Corp mates on the opposing side while our team is being completely ineffective. |

Okay, we have several sides of this long term ongoing conversation that the Devs have yet to respond to.
Let's try to come up with something that they might respond to, as it.
Anyway, we have Remote Armor Repair and Remote Shield Repair. Why not add a Remote Hack module. Get the HAV within a certain distance, based on lvl of the Skill/Module and allow the tank to Hack an objective. Some targets might not be accessible via HAVs. Too bad, as we cannot drive into buildings anyway.
It would be fun. It would eliminate one of the complaints in the above conversation. It would suck SP and ISK which always seems to make CCP happy. It would make the HAV driver Decide to Hack or Not based on adding the module and the normal CPU/PG balance.
We already have both Armor Repair and we can use the Supply Depots to repair our HAVs without getting out. With the Vehicle Hack Module that would reduce the requirement to get out of the vehicle although not eliminate it.

A big part of the problem is the "It's free" mentality from other FPSs.
They just dot the landscape with vehicles or let you call them in free for the taking.
When newberries arrive they see the shiny toys and want to play with them, not realizing (or perhaps not caring) that they belong to someone else. If they can hop into my ship and go flying off when I'm attempting a repair, I want to be able to strip them of their suit, equipment, and weapons. Share and share alike.
Pilot seat locks are a requirement for pub matches. At the very least you should require the proper skill to get in. |

I lose dropships all the time. I'd be satisfied with friendly fire and remote explosives which stick to vehicles.
As anyone who has ever refused to get out of my ship will tell you, I'm more than happy to sacrifice a dropship to teach a clingy blue dot a lesson. |

I don't even have to assume you didnt actually comprehend what I said.
I do drive tanks obviously not the marauders I dont feel the need to but I do drive tanks. I feel that if you get out and someone steals it thats on you.
Repping your own tank? You have reps for that if you in a shield tank taking armor damage your probably doing it very poorly.
I run mostly logi and happily rep tanks if they need it. But dont feel bad if you hop out and some jerk steals it.
Its a risk you chose to hop out why in the name of sansha you chose to get out of your million isk death machine is beyond me. But situational awareness works both ways you can't just do everything and the fact that anyone can jack your ride enforces that idea.
So before accusing me of being a tank thief at least comprehend my post.

The noobs have no respect for other people's properties, they think that the vehicles are unlimited and free which they are not, they think "hey there's a tank, I wana drive it and blow everything up, even if it gets destroyed I'm sure another will be deployed here so there's no need for me to be careful". If someone jumps into my Abaddon without the skills to run my T2 Mega pulse lasers, my True Sansha heat sinks, and my True Sansha energized membranes, then they go off line. If they don't have the skills to fly my Abaddon in the first place, then they can't even get in. Should be the same for Dust vehicles IMO |

It should be a option, the contracts are done by formal empires anyway.
Vehicles should be locked unless otherwise specified.
Also the options should be separate for side guns and driving, driving being the most important, likely is the olny one that needs help. Plus if you are a dropship or tank, extra help can never be turned down (good players can get kills without being turrets)
1. only you can drive
2. squad members
3. anyone
Though some may say this prevents enterprising looting, so to allow it friendly or otherwise, have hacking determine if a unwanted blueberry gets to use a tank, hack to make the tank yours.
Just because you are on the same team, no way in hell should security proticalls be removed, they should be amplyed if you are teaming up with strangers.
This would definably permit people to do repairs on own tank,or switch turrets without nubs stealing it. |
