I've noticed this since July when I first started, I don't feel like a merc. I mean when i'm doing my fittings in my quarters I do but the second I enter the warbarge I don't. I feel like i'm only fighting to get ISK and SP so I can upgrade and get better weapons.
What I feel is the problem is the warbarge. I like the idea allot but it's not right. We show up there and most of us just stand around... why not do something about that? Here's my idea.
When everybody is in the warbarge an anouncment is played that goes something like this. "I've hired you for one task, to eliminate all the clones (ambush) on the planet bellow. We here at (insert who ever hired them, each company has a different announcer) we have entrusted you with this task, if you succeed you shall be reward very well, if you fail you will make much, much less."
than for Skirmsh it would be something like, "Our ships are taking damage from the reactor down on the planet bellow that is controled by the enemy, you're tasked with taking it down, capture the objectives and let no one stand in your way!"
just something simple like that to remind us that "hey were mercs" and give us a real reason to fight, aside from ISK and SP.

I see what your talking about with everyone just standing around waiting for the battle but I think that that alone wont work and after a while hearing that same thing over and over again would just get annoying after a while. But I see what your getting at. I think the only way to get people to move around is to give them more to do and look at. For example: the map could be more interactive and can actually show the actual map of the area we are going to fight in. Also the planet outside the window should change to indicate a different location/map. And maybe the people could interact too. |

An announcement from the employers would be great. I would edit the title to just say you want a war barge announcement from the employers. Title is kind of vague, and might get ignored. |

There is a table in the middle of the room. If it had holographic images of the map you're going to fight on and the waiting time is increased, it can be used to plan strategies. |

I like that idea, being able to strategize with other squads would be a great add on to the ever growing Dust514/EVE universe. |

But the point is that you're never told why your there, who hired you? You're just there. That's the problem. |

It obviously has more reason than just a waiting lobby, I feel like ccp hasn't implemented all the facets of the warbarges pre-game launch rooms. I did hear the corp warbarges are going to be part of a future update so hopefully they will be fully operational. |

And a sort of mini briefing would be pretty cool for pub matches. |

Just to replace the current message :
Non combat personnel, please leave....
Public suicide is strictly prohibited...
It would be a good point. Drawing on the map would also be really nice, as long as it is the real map which is going to be played.

they are coming up with more and more features, we're still only about a month and a half into the Open Beta, and they need a bit of time to add things in.
but they are considering this, i only suggest paying attention to the announcements, because they do bring up the stuff they are planning.
still, kudos for the idea, because there are going to be quite a few groups we are going to be fighting for [we may bave the big Caldari and Gallente faction hires, but we still need to see Amarr and Minmatar], and the fact the voices are going to be different from group to group they might need time to record those messages. |
