So I'm finally getting the hang on the game, figured out what to do and what not to do, explored the maps and figured out how to fit the vehicles. In addition to that I have a Mouse and Keyboard on the way (gamepads aren't for everyone). All is well except, well, I died more than a few times in this process, quite frankly I didn't even consider it to be an issue.
Then I noticed that our KDR ratios are logged, well, that's just great. In order for me to get back to a respectable KDR ratio (say 4:1) it'd take me a ridiculous amount of games of maintaining such a ratio and this is only after 2 days of learning the ropes.
Why is this a concern? Knowing how EVE worked and how I've noticed similar trends here I would expect the better corps to inspect your KDR ratio as an applicant. This game is nice and all, but unless you get playing with people who know what they're doing you're not gonna get much better and only serve as farming material for those that are (each to his own, I personally prefer to be as competitive as possible). The players of some corps have been playing for months already, lets not pretend that we're on some kind of even playing field because far more important than a proto suit is knowledge.
So does the leaderboard ever reset and if not, why don't we have the ability to reset our own stats? |

Its nearly impossible to get your K/DR back up how it should be with the current system. Unless you're pulling in high numbers consistently, you can't get it higher than 2.5. Which rules out the possibility of pub matches. It's some stupid percentage based system rather than kills / deaths.
Also, Leaderboards need a complete overhaul, they only reward players who play all the time. Instead of Kills/WP Leaderboards, we need corp battle wins/losses, kills and deaths, and something that rewards skill over time played.
Possibly WP/Time played ratio. |

Because open beta is also the final reset barring anything drastic in the game. I personally wouldnt be opposed to quaterly ladders in addition to lifetime stats.
However in terms of KDR if you are as good as you believe your KDR will improve with time, also many corps will give players an opportunity to tryout before accepting or rejecting an application, my advice go to corp recruitment forum look at the threads of some top corps, Find their recruitment channels get in squads with them and feel them out. You'll find a home in no time. |

only losers just look at the kdr. I think many good corps would give you a try in their training corp anyway. |

I'd love it. Many other games has a kill per minute stat, that would be nice tho |

There are more likely chances of refinement in the boards (like age being accounted into it, or must update stats monthly) |

Considering only playing for 2 days means you most likely have 1000 or less kills, changing your KDR is extremely easy. Due to my low killcount (1500) my KDR has gone up from 1.0 to 1.5 in the last 2 days because I pull an average of 3-5 KDR each match. When you get up into the 10k kills and the 100k kills ranges, then it becomes a lot harder to up your KDR. Honestly though, lifetime KDR isn't all that important; how you perform in a match and how much you work for the win is what matters. |

A couple things...
There will be third party kill boards. Ala EVE Kill, which includes monthly and lifetime stats. DUST has been said by DEVs to be more CREST friendly than EVE for API goodness. Soon TM.
The best corps will have training corps they recruit from where you can show them what you've got |

get a cheap militia tank, stomp randoms. well u still gotta be careful because those things are fragile, but it's a lot harder to die, and long as u get 0 deaths, regardless of how many kills u get, ur kdr can only go up! :) |
