Please implement some sort of way to remove the players who play one or two games as snipers (who are useless to the team because as soon as they get the kills they want they go and hide for the rest of the game) and then never touch the character again as it holds a spot on the board.
ex) #25 21 kills, 21 kdr, w/l ratio of 0.00 #61 14 kills, 14 kdr, w/l ratio of 0.00 #62 14 kills, 14 kdr, w/l ratio of 0.00 #82 12 kills, 12 kdr, w/l ratio of 0.00 #100 11 kills, 11 kdr, w/l ratio of 0.00
Those are just the ones with 0 w/l in the first 100.
In just the top 100 there are at least 40 characters who by my guess will not log on again.
Some options I can think of:
- Only a soldier gaining passive sp will be included in the boards. I understand this would probably be quite some work but it would deter people from making/remaking soldier for the board as it would be a waste to have the sp go to an unused soldier.
- Have a minimum number of games. This would be less effective as the person could join a game and just sit in the MCC after they get their kills.
- Determine "active" or "inactive" based on log ins and games played per day/week/month/etc.
- Mix of the above two with minimum number of games w/ minimum number of wins but have that number increase based on when the soldier was created. A soldier made one month ago with 2 games should not be included on the board. |

The correct fix is to remove the boards. If stats are needed, rank average WP per hour in game, starting after first 100h is reached. That stat tells something about a player's contribution and activity, even though the top list will still be "leaderboard alts". |

But I snipe, not like the ones that play a game then stop being active, and I get no WP. Snipers don't get a whole lot of points but one or two nicely positioned snipers can defend a point all game and you can't say that's not contributing. On top of that I tell my friends (assaults) exactly where enemies around them are so they don't get ambushed. If they were to base everything off of WP they would have to give points for killing people attempting to capture a point because I kill em before they actually take it. |

It's meaningless if it's filled with dummy soldiers. |

the Wp way would benefit you my friend , but i am a front line assault , i like to push forward untill im dead :) , i get a lot of kills but dont make up that much Wp because i rarely hack ( defend hackers ) and i Never camp in a tank and farm Wp tht way , so for me it would kinda suck .... am i less deserving of a good spot on the boards because i have couple hundred/thousand more kills than u , or another person with considerably less deaths and a bit more Wp above me ...
those people who dont use the chars , they wont be in top 100 long , active players will be gaining on them daily , kills board is for people who have kills like me :) , Wp is on the Wp board for people like you ... ?
if it makes u fell better , just dont look at the kill board , concentrate on gaining on the Wps one |

This depends much on map. A decent sniper on manus peak with Thales. Rifle should steadily kill 50-70 in a match if left relatively uncontested. You have a point though, snipers have a ton of visibility issues rendering many of their kills less meaningful than those of assaults and heavies, who kill people naturally at the meaningful places. |

Corp matches are a whole different matter, though, and snipers are functional there as either an area denial asset or combat snipers. Combat sniping will see a big incline when people figure out mapping their on board mouse memory to scope up and shoot in one foul clip, making snipers a hip fire shotgun on steroids ;) |

I was actually just thinking about this because the leaderboards are stupid and misleading for both KD and W/L when they're filled with people who have clearly only played a handful of games. KD should not be calculated for anyone with less than 10 deaths. WL should also not be calculated for anyone who has played less than 10 games. |

CCP will change it soon. If they don't, in a few months the leaderboard for KDR will be completely filled with one-game-wonders, and will be entirely meaningless. It's a pretty obvious sort of issue, but I imagine it's been a really low priority due to the constant wipes prior to 10 Jan.
A simple fix would be to not have people show up on the leaderboard until the reach a certain kill threshold. Like, for example, you don't get ranked until after you've killed 1000 people or hit 50,000 WP something. |

What I don't understand, is how is it possible to join a match and then still have a 0/0 W/L? The only way I can think of is if the person leaves the match after the kill. In which case, that person shouldn't be awarded anything.
I think the first thing that should happen is a fix should be made to prevent players from getting any type of stats if they drop a match. Then create a fix that prevents players from showing on the leader boards until they meet some type of criteria based on kills or WP (as stated by Fivetimes Infinity). Then the boards should be further split by weapon and vehicle types so that KDR can be recorded across types, this would give a truer measure of a person's ability, I think. Then the boards should be wiped and we see how that goes and make adjustments as needed. |

Not sure what you mean by this. I can't find others' wins and losses, only the win to loss ratio, which can easily be 0 especially when you have people getting a few kills then hiding.
It's just 0 wins/ any number of games. |

No, if you stay in a match, then you either win or lose. The W/L ratio is based on the match, therefore the only way to get a 0 would be to leave the match. |

I agree completely that the Leaderboards are "broken" at the moment because of immature players just wanting a spot on the boards regardless of it being a main character or just some merc they created to play just one game and snatch a spot.
I think the easiest solution would be one of these three:
a) Only characters who have reached a certain amount of skillpoints should be ranked (i.e. 1,500,000 SP) b) Only characters who have reached a certain number of kills, deaths, or a combination of both should be ranked (i.e. 500 kills, 500 deaths, or 1,000 total) c) A combination of a and b.
It would be much more difficult and require a significant amount of time to reach 500 - 1,000 kills or 1.5M SP without dying.

I didn't see Fivetimes Inifinity's post before I replied. Just wanted to include and agree with it. |
