I have standard swarms, so I skilled into Level 1 and was well worth it.
But....
The Swarm Launcher Skill doesn't really make sense. It adds to the blast radius which is really not useful for vehicles and dumbfire is questionable if it will ever return.
So even with dumb fire back, the skill wouldn't improve a Swarm Launcher's ability rather cause a future OP cry. I would like dumb-fire back for non-militia swarms, but to have the skill solely increase the Anti-infantry ability goes without saying as being one sided.
The swarm launcher skill should probably do something more balanced/useful. I want to say decrease lock time but that is also one sided.
I used forum search found only a thread of slight relevance. It was locked anyways. |

They're going to introduce signature based damage with explosions so bigger the explosion the better the damage coverage. |

How would that be applicable to vehicles if they take both direct and splash already?

It is probably the most useless skill buff after the laser rifle (which actually does pretty much nothing) but I have actually killed quite a few people who have thought that they could just jump out of their LAV moments before my advanced complex dmg mod swarms hit. So, it does do something but I'm sure they could make it something far more useful. |

Get rid of the swarm launcher.
It's a noskill weapon and should be massively reworked or removed from game.
The Plasma Cannon is also a light weapon and skill based according to CCP.
Problem solved. |

I'm not against making it stupidder in fact but maybe make it get smarter the higher level you skill into. Make it so that it takes longer for the lower level ones to lock on. Or the missiles lose track of their target easier (or sooner) if the target moves. |

Responding to the OP and not the QQ/Nerf/Forge highjack by others that could have just started their own QQ thread instead.
All splash damage has been reduced and the ability to aim at the ground (by Reds) and fire was removed as well.
I find that if you are aiming at a LAV with troops around it they will take some of the splash damage. Same is true for Infantry backing a HAV. It is not great but there is a reward. Whether it is worth the SP is between you and CCP. Upgrading the skill is the only way to access higher tier weapons so the point is moot. Several modules require a Skill that grant you nothing besides the ability to use the mod. Think of this as a poorly worded version of those. |
