What's the difference between them? I only see a .8 damage increase and a 3 point reduction to heat buildup. These honestly aren't worth a 30k price hike to me. Is there a hidden stat or some feature that makes the MH-82 worth so much more than the basic HMG? |

Not really. I'm still rolling the basic HMG for the reasons you have pointed out and focusing on passives. |

I've noticed different stats on the same item when you compare them from the market and when you want to use them to replace equipment. At least in fitting stats the detail that matters is the ones you see when you try to fit them.
Also you could try pointing them both at friendlies or enemies of known fits to see if there is a difference in damage types. One may be better/worse against shields/armor... |

.8 per bullet You shoot 33-34 bullets a second. So it is a 26.4 point increase to DPS and a bit longer of a firing period. Not too bad. |

A lot of the advanced weapons don't really seem that impressive until you combine them with passive skills and damage mods. Since the damage boost is a percentage increase, that .8 can be amplified by quite a bit. |

Frankly I am going to run the big boy and soon. Because I have 25 of them in stock from Salvage. And free is even cheaper than the tier 1 HMG.

Okay hold on.
HMG 2000 x 16 = 32000 damage per minute 32000 / 60 = 533 damage per second 533 + 20% from complex damage mods = 640 dps
MH-82 2000 x 16.8 = 33600 damage per minute 33600 / 60 = 560 damage per second 560 + 20% from complex damage mods = 672 dps
It does a bit more damage, but putting complex damage mods on your fitting looks a lot better than skilling into the HMGs. |

most stuff in this game (as in many other including eve of course) has linear stats increase for exponential cost increase.
if you spend more and die less as a result then you'll still profit.
core weaponry seems to be a better investment to begin with, as at lvl 5 weaponry you have the 10% damage from the skill plus at lvl 5 you can use 10% damage modifiers (of course they're not cheap either ;) ). |

Don't forget that higher meta level weapons usually have longer ranges too. Admittedly it's not a big leap between standard and the 82 but it's still something. |

the Burst Hmg is a beast 12 X4000 rpm = 48000 MH-82 16.8X2000 = 33600 but the problem wit Burst hmg is to aim and hit the fulll burst (1 burst = 40bullets) to a target that move in aopposite angles direction front of view (diagonal or horizontal) |

Most of the expensive weapons seem to offer little value. I suppose there are few breakpoints that you might hit (X number of shots required to kill Y suit with Z skills etc) but couldn't say which ones those would be.
I find that a lot of people roll around in militia gear, especially if its free due to permanent BPO copies (some starter classes give you specific ones, you can buy a few with Aurum and some have been awarded ones in previous beta stages).
As for the HMG, I find it to be generally underwhelming so far. I prefer using an Assault Rifle or Forge Gun. |

There is a subtle but marked increase in performance with the MH-82. You do a bit more dmg for longer.
Compliment this with a Type 1 / Type 2 suit, and complex dmg mods.
Note every sec less it takes you to kill someone, the less dmg your taking. The less dmg you take the more berries you can kill |

I have been a heavy since last June and I personally have found little difference between the standard HMG and the MH-82 but there is a noticeable jump when I started using the Boundless HMG and a big difference with the Gatsun model as well. Currently I'm finding the HMG a bit wishy washy although still useable but hopefully we'll get something new shortly I'm hoping for a Laser cannon or a portable version of the sml Blaster turret.

Snag I love your out look.
When Gunning I love the blaster turret if we are grinding down the Reds. Having one in my Fits would be very rewarding. |

Thanks for all the advice and information.
I can finally carry the 82 so I will find out the value soon. The cost is still zero so that is a good place to experiment from. The next level up or so will be a climb as this is my alt and doesn't have the SP boosters.
Again, thank you all very much. |

Is there a difference in CPU/PG usage? If so then the benefit would be being able to through better modules in with the weapon to boost performance/lethality.
Also, what about reload speed? sometimes it really is just the little things. |
