Hi everyone!
*** DISCLAIMER *** 1- This post is intended to be a brainstorm of mine for the future of Dust514 with some ideas I've been putting together. 2- There's no point to say my idea is bad since it's a brainstorm. I just hope Devs will see this post :) 3- I will not get into the specifics details on maths behind everything... so if i talk about a proposed skill or action i will not express the exact value of the skill bonus or action. 4- I'll try to use the best English to explain my points but English is not my primary language.

I was really thinking about how EVE and DUST could merge together and having an impact to each other... Making EVE a part of DUST and DUST a part of EVE
So here we go:

PLANETARY INTERACTION
Since planet interaction happens on planet where DUST player fight it'S the first place were i see interaction could happen.
What i see for PI is :
- PI bonus-malus - PI protection and assault - PI level design
1-a PI BONUS-MALUS
Bonus (overdrive)
What i see there would be that EVE players could toggle a bonus output on their planets extractors, industries, links and storage. (basical everything)
The bonus output could be determine by a new PI skill which would allow you to increase the pace at which everyone work and, in a such way, increase the output capability of PI.
Once toggled ON this bonus would last for a determined time and would make the PI structure vulnerable to mercenaries attacks (read DUST players)
So having PI bonus could be a risk where the bonus output could turn down to be malus output.
Malus
If the overdrive of the would be denied by assaulting DUST players, then the Overdrive would turn into a down time.
Downtime could be set to be a negative bonus to output for the reminder of the cycle of Overdrive.
See it that way: Clones working a PI would be focused on production, dropping others duties like defending the structures against incoming threats but increasing the amount of work done on production. If assaulted, the damage done by DUST players to the structures would need first to be repaired by the clones before getting back to work.
which lead to the second point
1-b PI PROTECTION AND ASSAULT
For the EVE player who setup PI on overdrive by enabling de bonus he would need to hire mercenaries to defend it's production instead of having his own militia doing so.
That's where DUST players come into play.
PROTECTION
Dust players could answer to protection contracts placed by the EVE player to defend his PI while he's on Overdrive. The EVE player would be able to set the amount for the contract which would be the reward for defending mercs of DUST. Also the EVE player would be able to donate a part of it's production as a part of the reward to the DUST mercs.
EVE player could also give his protection to a specific DUST corporation. So he could maybe skip paying a type of reward to the DUST mercs or instead select specific corp who he would have already contracted for his own protection.
ASSAULT
Since the PI would be in overdrive and almost defenseless, this would become an interesting target for the DUST players. They would be able to pillage and loot a part of the PI production, maybe recovering some expensive items or prototypes they would be trying to develop. (read R4 items or rare salvaged item from battle for DUST players)
The contract would appear right away when the player set his PI in overdrive and last as long as there isn't a DUST fight that occurs. Contracts could be planned to appear once per X hours the EVE players set his overdrive for. (ex: Contracts show each 6 hours, EVE player set up his overdrive to 24 hours getting 4 contracts to appears each 6 hours of the duration)
If a fight would occur, the Overdrive of PI would be saved for the set time (in my example 6 hours) if the defenders wins. Otherwise the PI would go into Malus for the rest of the set time.
1-c PI LEVEL DESIGN
This is where PI fight could get really interesting.
The main idea would be to have people creating user submited maps for DUST. This could be done by DUST players or EVE players and would required skills trained to do so. (I See it like fitting a ship but instead fitting a map level) DUST maps would get PG CPU usage or equivalent to set them up and different PI structure would have different basic layouts.
Those design could be crafted and designed then sold on the market like a BPC (blue print copy) of the level and installed into the PI structures.
When under attack thoses structures would load the map as the selected map in the PI structure.
What this propose is that some players will design new maps for DUST, sell them to EVE players who will then install them in their PI assets. It would be like having a military architect designing your defenses on a battlefield. Some people would get reknowned for proposing high quality maps and DUST corp could have their own set of maps that they know and that would give them an edge when defending offering to protect PI assets.
CONCLUSION OF PI
Planetary interaction could get deeper with this proposed ideas, it would also increase DUST-EVE interaction, create a new type of market items, new goals to strive for.

EXPLORATION
We know that we have different exploration site, why not add a DUST exploration site.
What i see for exploration:
- Squad launcher - PVE encounters - Rewards
Lets get the basic layout. You explore, find a site where there is an old abandoned POS or structure. You launch mercs to try to retrieve anything good inside of it.
2-a SQUAD LAUNCHER
Yeah you did read it right, squad launcher.
I see squad launcher as module exploration ships could fit giving them the ability to send a MCC to the "believed" abandoned structure. Different size and quality of squad launcher would have different amount of clones available for the DUST players to accomplish the mission. It would be like having a salvager with an amount of chance of success. The higher the number of clones is, the higher the chance is you get back with victory and loot. Higher complex would have higher difficulty and rewards.
Squad launcher in their fabrication would be loaded with an amount of ISK to cover DUST player reward and expenses.
2-b PVE ENCOUNTERS
Since a DUST match can take around 15 mins, the match would occur in real time and sync with the EVE player. EVE players could get wave of enemies he need to defeat while the DUST game is in action.
DUST player would fight on a battleground against rogue drones, corrupted clones, pirates etc... Map type for this could be as those we already have in DUST , assault, skirmish and maybe also a capture the flag.
The challenge would be to get the mission done within the time range and with the amount of clones avalaible.
2-c REWARDS
IF the EVE player was to have his ship destroyed or his linked broken with the MCC (like warping out of site) the link for the clones would be lost and they would then automatically lose the match.
DUST players would only get the rest of the prepaid amount of the squad launcher if the EVE player is defeated.
If, on the other side, DUST players wins and EVE player still alive they would get the reward of the expedition.
A specific type of reward could be attribute to this type of exploration site and DUST players could get special type of items only available in those sites. |

DUST-EVE PVP
What about sending DUST players on an enemy EVE ship?
What i see for PVP:
- Squad launcher - PVE or PVP encounters - Impacts on EVE
3-a SQUAD LAUNCHER
Like i explained a bit in Exploration, squad launcher could be also used by different ship other than exploration one. They would be sent to the enemy ship to engage in a fight inside the EVE ship to disrupt differents actions. Also squad launcher could be only used against Capital ship. Making it possible for the fight to last long enough to get a brief DUST game up.
3-b PVE or PVP ENCOUNTERS
Once the squad launcher hit the capital ship, a DUST game would be announced on DUST. Players would be able to join with the same condition as explained in the Exploration site. The objective would be to cause mayhem on the enemy ship, maybe delaying shield reinforcement process, lowering cap recharge, shield regens, weapons recharge speed etc..
If the player who's owning the capital ship didn't get a DUST protection contract up, the defense against the Squad launcher would then be against NPC. But if the player did prepare and had a contract up and ready, DUST player would be able to defend against the attack.
Also I see that the level design idea could be used here also to preset a determine map as a defense for the capital ship. I would see match type like skirmish or capture the flag to represent what's goimg in the capital ship (ex: Capture the flag to rob enemies ammos, skirmish to damage the shield reinforcement etc...)
3-c IMPACTS ON EVE
This could lead to battle prepared in EVE and DUST at the same times, having hired corps already prepared in DUST to jump in to disrupt capital ships in important battles. And yes CCP this mean more load on servers :D |

These are my ideas that came up to mind while doing some brainstorming, i hope it will get to the attention of DEVs and will maybe propose them a different sight on DUST future and new ideas.
I used this forum to help other to get their imagination up about what EVE-DUST could be. But please use your own thread to post your own ideas.
