I tried to send someone a message after a battle, in most playstation games the X button is used to select things (not all but most) in your message/mail menu the X button is used to send the mail, so when i tried to populate the subject and body areas of the mail system i kept sending this guy blank mails due to the fact that i naturally hit the X button to try to select the field that i wanted to start typing in. After doing this about five times (it was late and i was tired) i was wondering if other people had the same issue. Yesterday i received 3 blank messages all from the same person before finally he was able to send what he wanted. I asked if he TOO was having problems with how the message system works and he said yes. So I feel that the X button should be used to select the field you want to type in and the SQUARE button or another button or may be a location at the bottom of the menu that you have to select to send the message should be added. I know this is small but it's the small things in a game that makes me happy.
The other thing i noticed is that the people are not using the local, corp channels much. I'm thinking that the idea "out of site out of mind" saying is playing a role in this. since the windows aren't in view most of the time (i get not having it displayed while in battle) but when you are in station walking around, may be its default should be to be open running in the background. just an idea to get people communicating with each other more.
Anyone else agree/disagree? i know in the spectrum of things CCP needs to do these are minor issues, I just think that since this is going to be an MMO style shooter that communication with the whole community should be easier to use and be more visible. |

For the corp/local chat, as soon as someone comments in one, it becomes a flashing icon on the right side of the screen for everyone with access to that channel, so there's already an on-screen notification when the channel is active.
But the mail system definitely needs some reworking, because that REALLY messes with people a lot. Especially when there are other elements to the game interface (allocating merc Pack and beta reward gear to your characters) which work how the mail system SHOULD be working.
When you get used to it, square to type doesn't seem too bad, and it does tie in (kind of) with the chat system, but it's still a weird setup and using something more familiar would help. |

The icon blinking does help, but I usually don't go out of my way to look. There have been times where someone asked for assistance where i would have helped them but i didn't bother to check why the icon was blinking until they were in another game playing, or logged off. I'm just thinking that if it were open in the background to be seen while walking around the room, responses would be quicker and i feel more people would use it. most people including me don't sit with the window open to see whats being said in local. I'm just thinking more visibility with the local/corp channels would be beneficial for better communication, especially for the new players. |
