Ok so I'm a total noob was on a few hours last night and loved the game. Getting back to the HQ where you can update your weapons, suite ect, I've been spending a lot on weapons updating the skills in an attempt to unlock more effective weapons. Would you say this is to soon and I should be just getting as much as I can with the equipment I already have? Or get into learning as much and opening as much I as I can as quick as I can. As when I've build up the skill level to use the wepons there going to be ready to use. In all honesty I'm still learning the layout and how to play. Just want some input on how you guys might go about it who have been on for a while and arenGÇÖt as lost as me when trying to advance weapons, suites ect.
Cheers

Best thing to do is get lots of different militia gear as you don't need any skills for using them. Granted they aren't as effective as standard gear but at least you can try them out.
Once you get a feel for the game it will be easier for you to decide if you want to upgrade specific weapon skills or tanking skills or what ever you fancy. |

i,v been playing a few days now and still very much a basic noob. i pretty much just picked skills without really knowing what i was doing.i thougt about scrapping the whole thing but decided to stck with it and i am in the prosess of ironing out the wrinkles so to speak. i feel i,v now got an ok build going on.so all i can say is you live and learn by your mistakes but just stop nd look at what skills you have at the moment and just build on what you want and leave the others what you may find is you have unknowingly given yourself a fair bit of flexibilty with your over all build
i really dont think there is aright or wrong way to go about this

Get better dropsuits, all your fancy equipment and weaponry will be completely useless if you don't have the CPU/PG to handle them. Investing points on Circuitry and PG Upgrades would also be preferred, along with the light/heavy weapon proficiency of your choice. Specializing on a single or a few playstyles is also preferred, as spreading out too much during the start will hurt you badly on the long run. For instance if you are a run-of-the-mill assault guy with an assault rifle who likes to blow things up with remote explosives, invest points on Explosives, Assault Rifle Proficiency and Caldari Assault Dropsuit Command. Armor and shield upgrades are universally good for any class and playstyle, so investing on those would be a good idea aswell. |

Thanks for the info and advice guys much appreciated. I was thinking about the suite but I kept getting killed as soon as I'd spawned and the gun you start with needs loading up pretty quick, I kept getting taken out before I had killed the other player due to stopping and loading up. Wanted to get a gun with a bigger mag or more effective damage rate. |

Tip 1: join a game. Dont spend a skill pont until you have used each of the loadouts you start with.
Tip 2: Follow a team mate. Pick a guy, follow him, and support him as much as you can. Watch what he does and learn!
Tip 3: You cant kill a tank with an assault rifle
Tip 4: Dont get all emo on us when you die. Chill n try again. it doesn't matter if you die. You will get better and you will do better |

To add to what they said: advanced-tier gear is expensive. I don't suggest unlocking it until you can steadily finish a match with like 2-4 deaths. I've been focusing on stat boosting skills like Weaponry and whatever-it-is-that-boosts-your-armor. |

Yeah I wasn't sure how to get into a team. I tried following a few guys but the game I was in seemed to be mostly solo players. I ain't gonna get all upset just because I've been killed, its more to do with understanding the game logistics and how experienced players go about getting the best kit and weapons quicker....Its advice I'm looking for more than anything. I play a lot of sky rim and fallout. just completed dishonored so this is the perfect game to sink into. I've played the likes of COD 4 BBC3 and this is 100% better as its down to you how you fair, set up as an all out gun-ho player or be a stealthy assassin type customizing your weapons and gear how you will. I'm also a big Halo fan, If they made Halo into this type of game with each spartan updating his Armour and layout it would be amazing. Sorry if I've upset any Xbox haters.. |

HA HA ok I got no problems with getting blasted, that's the least of my concerns. My worry is not getting the most out of my gear and using it to its full. I wanna be able to load out even if I'm a super noob at the moment with gear that gives the vets a good run and maybe even help a few team players on the way. The games I joined were more like team death matches and no team support at all. I read in other threads that joining a corp is the best way. I wanna be able to give a good game with a good team of people. That's the point in this right? |

You my dear sir have got it spot on, find a corp that suits your playing habbits/style and roll with it, your welcome to put an app to the shadow cavalry mercenaries , provided you have or intend on getting a mic, we are a newly formed crew of bitter vets who were sick of the directions our corps were going in and could possibly help your game. happy hunting |

Was on last night for a few hours getting into it much more now, just need to upgrade my CPU so I can get more amour into the suite. there was a massive issue with me not being able to join any games as it just kept telling me I need to leave my squad as I'm not squad leader. I wasn't in a squad at the time I'd just finished a game and got back to my HQ. I'm not 100% on how to join a corp at the moment. I noticed no one I was playing with last night used mics, Is this only a pre build squad thing?? |

There are still bugs in the squad system, if you're having trouble joining games or leaving squads just quit the game and log back in.
To join a corp go down to the corp tab when you're in your merc quarters and you can search through and apply to join them from there, although you might be better off checking out the recruitment threads on the forums here first, to find out a bit more about individual corps.
As for nobody using mics, yeah, you tend to find most people you meet in random games are silent. Join a corp and you'll find almost everyone is talking. |

I'd make many alt psns (for passive sp) and many alt accounts. That way you can start to specialize into everything on all your guys, and figure out what you like most. It'll also mean you won't waste any points because you have a character for everything!
As a point of reference, it took me a month to figure out what I liked to do.
Eventually it came to the point where I had specialized in stuff I didn't want to do, but fortunately I played in closed beta so I was reset and could reinvest all skill points. |
